That was a flash knock down that he didn't see, that he laughed off and got up seemingly unaffected. He also went down from a monster short punch on the chin from Yusaf Mack which he also didn't see...that one he also got up seemingly unaffected. Here's the thing...what makes Froch, a guy who TKO'd Taylor, have so much power? Has he ever scored a KO or KD on an "elite" fighter that was not a severely fatigued Taylor? Pascal?no. Dirrell?no. Kessler?no. So what separates Froch's power from Andrade's? Froch is more skilled than Andrade in my opinion, but power? That's very debatable. Furthermore, pressure fighters don't always need to be packing serious power to be effective. Look at Glen Johnson. The guy is no KO artist(Roy Jones moment aside). What makes guys who bring pressure effective is they force the opponent to fight at a much faster rate than they are accustomed to and get them badly fatigued. If you have a great chin like a Glen Johnson, it makes it better. And if the opponent is a chronic fader like Taylor...that's even better. And for JT, it doesn't seem to matter that he has skills and would be winning every round. He was winning most rounds before KP dropped him and was winning most rounds before Froch dropped him.
We agree to disagree. That wasn't a flash knock down. He was hurt. Smiling after getting floored just confirms it. Twelve rounds I might say andrade but ten rounds I go to jt. I honestly think andrade is tough but not tough enough after his previous ass whippings to use that pressure tactic much longer. Bute earthed son and I think jt would do the same.
My opinion of Andrade is somewhere between.......... ...........and.............. I think Taylor wins, if his chin isn't completely compromised. Andrade could wear him down, but I think it would be Taylor winning most of the rounds. But can JT avoid the late KO?
10 rounds obviously benefits JT greatly. He's obviously far superior to Andrade as a fighter but JT has horrible defense and struggles against rugged, come forward fighters. But JT would land a ton of flush shots on Andrade also. I think it would be a heck of a fight. I think JT can last 10 rounds. Too close to call for me. Maybe a draw.
Agreeing to disagree is often the best way to handle these things:good. Since you added on to it, please allow for my rebuttal. After reviewing the video again I would say he was hurt, but not hurt badly based upon these things.... After getting up, he immediately took several flush shots and still went forward. He also didn't have several other indicators of being hurt too badly, such as not having his legs, looking dazed while covering up while not moving, going backwards to the ropes or to a corner, clinching desperately after the count, etc. So while he was initially hurt he recuperated very quickly. Heres the video... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWeu2aEev70[/ame] In comparison to another iron jawed fighter who got hurt... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R38me5203X8[/ame] Problems remain though that A)comparing JT to Bute, especially at this stage in their careers, is far fetched. B). You say Andrade is tough but not tough enough after ass kickings, well, what has JT gone through? C). JT still hasn't knocked anyone out in 6 years and I believe his last KO was against Daniel Judah(could be wrong, have to look) and yet there's an expectation to knock Andrade out. D). pretty much everyone who fights Andrade is more skilled than Andrade by a large margin, doesn't mean they will win. I only see this fight going 2 ways. Andrade by KO or JT by points. I don't think Andrade has a prayer of winning on points and I don't think JT knocks him out. Clearly a 10 rounder favors JTs survival, but I really doubt how much he has left after HIS ass kickings he's taken. It's an agree to disagree thing, it's all good, your points are valid. Andrade is bigger and stronger with a great chin. Taylor would not be able to phase him with his power. Taylor gets KO'd late in this one.
This wouldn't be a good fight for Taylor to jump right back in with a pressure fighter. Taylor doesn't need to be fighting B fighters just yet. If he were to make a comeback he should fight 2 or 3 C level fighters just to see if he still has it. I'm thinking along the lines of a Fernando Zuniga, Fulgencio Zuniga, Enrique Ornelas, (and I believe this is Andrade's brother...may'be not brother, but some sort of family member) and Travis Simms. These type of fighters. They are around the C- and C type level and if Taylor takes care of them with ease, then may'be make a bit of a jump to fight a Curtis Stevens, Jesse Brinkley, Edison Miranda, Karloy Balzsay, etc. Jumping head first against somebody like Andrade wouldn't be smart.
