As Ive mentioned before. There are about five truly elite world class fighters in all of MMA. FIVE!

 

If a boxer was in there, they would be on the ground within 10 seconds. With no take down defense you don't stand a chance, unless you're able to KO your opponent right away.

 

Thats a given. The point is you rarely see PPV fighters fight this sloppy. Boring yes, but solid technically at their craft. I love MMA but its a young sport and there are truly very few who have shown exceptional consistent technical skills, GSP, BJ, Silva, Machida..Fedor is a freak

 

OP what are you talking about you have no idea, hathaway is a good fighter and he rocked diego early with a massive knee which clearly effected him all night.

boxing and mma are different, even the boxing you use in a mma fight is different to the way you box in a boxing match. In mma you have to watch out for kicks and take downs in a boxing match you can be at a closer range and use shoulder rolls because you will not get taken down or kneed in the face.

and yes boxers would do well against certain mma fighters but other mma styles would absolutely destroy a boxer.

a mma fighter would just take the boxer down and submit or stay out of punching range and leg kick all night if they were smart

 

Unless a boxer has a good takedown defense (like liddell). They will get taken down and beat the **** up.

Id take Machida off that list. Rua really exposed him. No top-tier fighter should display some of the weaknesses that Machida displayed in BOTH fights against Rua. What high level professional backs away with his chin sticking out while being perfectly upright. Im shocked he wasnt exploited before.

 

We all know that Mercer at the tender age of 47 is boxings best representative. Kimbo is a joke compared to many UFC fighters. He should be a joke to ALL UFC fighters. The fact he was able to grab a win against a fighter who holds wins over Alessio Sakara and Keith Jardine and survive a round in a half against Roy Nelson is pathetic and embarassing.

And it is incredible to me that people actually think the fight with Mercer was a legit fight and not a work. Mercer laid against the cage with his hands up while Kimbo hit all forearms and gloves for 20 seconds. Do you honestly think Mercer couldnt have just ended the fight right than and there?

Mercer is a year removed from making a top 10 HW in MMA tumble down like a tree in 9 seconds. There is a reason why thats listed an exhibition.
