Why do people think that Jones had a glass jaw during the second Tarver fight?

Because when it comes to trying to bash a great talent like Roy, this is the only stick they can find to use. It's a desperate attempt, as we all know Roy deteriorated heavily after that Ruiz fight, and cannot to be judged on the fights that unfolded after that.

His punch resistance went down but to say he's always had a glass jaw is just plain stupid. He toke flush rights from Hopkins in the first fight and ate them and that's when Hops was still considered a boxer-puncher.

I dont think Jones had a shaky chin back then but the only punches Jones took in that sequence of note, was against Castro (left hook), and a couple of lefts against Griffin.

 

I think Roy at that point and still does have a glass jaw. It was a glass jaw in his prime its virtually impossible for him to fight 16 years and never really be hurt. I know he had great reflexes but contray to popular belief he was still hit cleanly plenty of times. RJJ got KOed at 35 years old after he had drained himself, the man cut 20 pounds of muscle. Think about it whats harder to gain 20 pounds of muscle or fat ? Muscle easily and its the same losing it. Its very clear Roy has had shot legs since the 1st Tarver fight by comparison to his old self it looks like hes stuck in the mud. If Roy's legs are shot is it that hard to believe at an old age for a boxer his punch resistance dropped at a significant rate ? No it should not be hard to believe. Things happen that can effect your punch resistance like the age, to many punches etc.

 

he was beaten 6 times, all of them after year 2000 and only 2 of them came from a punch that landed on his chin

not the best jaw but definetely far from glass jaw, the way tarver and johnson landed were like 2 lennox lewis losses, those punches just landed perfectly.
