After watching Bisping, are you still tryin to tell me boxers couldn't compete?

A great take down defense takes years to develop and only an elite few have developed it to a level were they almost never get taken down.
Any boxer who trains for 2 years on take down defense will lose a little of what they know, boxing, so that would suffer for a start.
Also they wouldn't have the level of the elites, so they would get taken down regardless.

An elite boxer has about as much chance of winning in a cage vs an elite MMA fighter as the MMA fighter would have in a boxing ring. Very slim to none.

And the truth of it is that we're never likely to find out. Why would an elite boxer in his prime consider the transition to mma; it doesn't make any sense. When you've made it your objective over many years to master one principle, and had a great amount of sucess, why make would you then decide to give mma a go when you'd be little more than a novice?

A top boxer would fare pretty well in MMA. I see way to many guys getting dropped and KOed by sloppy punches for me to think other wise.

Only thing preventing it is money. Theres no money for these guys in MMA. Its not a matter of if, its whether they are motivated to learn TD defense or not.

All Im saying is Mercer can beat Silva in an MMA match but the otherway around wont happen.

That last sentence says it all. I just started taking BJJ lessons and they had me grappling with a blue belt the second day. I tapped to several different submissions. Gogoplata being one of them. He was not trying to show me up and was actually doing me a favor because I got a taste of what it is like to have a guy get your back and seal in a RNC or several other kinds of submissions.
