Rampage pretty much said in the post fight presser that he feels Rashad beat him with wrestling and athleticism, and that he is still a superior "fighter" to Rashad.
Evans undoubtedly won that fight. But also, he undoubtedly would have been knocked the **** out if the Rampage that fought Henderson, showed up and fought him. The ONLY thing that saved Rashad was Rampages long layoff, obvious loss of motivation for training and the fact that a guy who could normally fight 3 HARD rounds, was gassed out in the 3rd round of a pretty much uneventful fight. Rashad is light on his feet and very quick for his size, but he has been buzzed badly in his last two fights and knocked out in the fight before that, he will be able to gameplan his way to victories over alot of people, but another KO is in his near future....no doubt about that. Shogun will destroy him, no doubt in my mind. Rampage will KO him too in a rematch.
Rampage didn't want to fight either. He was content to just sit back and try to counter all night, when there was never going to be much to counter. After all the **** he talked about Rashard not being on his level and how he was going to destroy him, he had an obligation to be more aggressive. Instead he pussyfooted it and now embarrasingly sports a couple of losses to TUF winners Forrest Griffen and Rashard Evans on his record.
boring boring fight, technically sound but who cares when it's the dollars being spent to watch something enjoyable, that wasn't enjoyable unless you're a super rashad evans fan.
Evans easily won two rounds, and I wouldn't object to someone saying he won the final round as well, despite being in trouble for a few seconds. No, Rampage wasn't robbed.
Evans won the fight but if I were him I wouldnt bother showing up to face Shogun as I'm 99% sure hell get starched. Even if Rua doesnt do it early and Rashad steals rounds through 'neutralizing' or whatever you would call what he did to Rampage, then he still gets gassed and gets caught with a big right hand. Goodnight Vienna.
The bottom line is UFC is about realism. Rashards method is the perfect way to win in the UFC. Slug fests are a mugs game in the UFC.
I would say Evans did steal the fight until Rampage hurt him and didn't finish him. I expected more from Rampage in trying to finish him. I didn't see it so I think he just lost. He couldn't pull the trigger because Rashad kept changing levels so he didn't know if he had to strike or defend the take down.
I wanted Rampage to win but he lost.... I think he has had too much time away from the octagon, Im not a big fan of Evans so I`ll be laughing like **** once he gets Shogunned.
There's more chance of Rashad being cast as BA in an A-Team sequel movie than there is of him beating Shogun Rua.
If you will forgive me for saying this, a lot of people here talk like they are tripping. Look at the way UFC rules work. and what happens in fights. Once you get to a certain level of skill and ability, it's a dice roll who wins the fight, or who got out of bed feeling better that day. believe it, that is the real world.
