Could Khan not find anyone else, other than a shot Casamayor?

I think khan's team feels he neds more experience b4 fighter the bigger names. But they don't want to face a lot of risk in getting that experience. Not a bad move business wise, but the fans hate it. Khan should've fought urango imo.

Casamayor isn't a terrible opponent, and I will be rooting fiercely for him.

That said, there is a case to made for this being smart/careful matchmaking on Khan's part.

Then again, so what? As long as it isn't a steady diet of complete no-name tomato cans, and as long as the best ultimately wind up fighting the best in the weight range, who cares how many twists and winds the road takes on the way there?

******, Naseem was actually a bantamweight himself, fighting up at featherweight by choice! Akin to the way Pacquiao is fighting guys up at 140 and 147. To suggest Naseem made a career from fighting smaller people, means you really don't know ****.

True that. I respect and admire his decision to keep busy, and am not all that bothered about him not facing the top guys at 140 just yet. He's only 23, and has plenty of time to challenge them in the near future. Most people here so f***ing impatient, acting as though just because he's not fighting them now, he never will!

So yes, for the time being I understand Team Khan's decision to take the route of safer opponents to develop not only his name, but his experience too. But I just feel they could have continued with this still logical approach, by picking a more durable opponent. Other than being a decent name on a record, I don't think they'll be getting too much use out of Casa (despite his experience and skill)

I think Casa'a power has actually improved in the later stages of his career because he has to plant and feet more, and therefore throws from a more stable base. He's definetly got enough pop to send Khan to sleep and 5lbs isn't going to make a difference to two guys who are essentially lightweights. Maybe this is all just wishful thinking though. But Casa definetly sounds like he's up for it, and the more people write him off, the more I start to like his chances. Hopefully Khan will underestimate him.

This sums up where boxing fans have got to this days when not fighting is seen as more credible than fighting.

Twats get the sport they deserve.

Sorry Man you are wrong, Naz struggled to make Feather and fought at Bantam until about 21 - 22 until he knew where his body felt natural. Naz either fought mandertories for the WBO title or fighters who were not very dangerous , was exposed by kevin kelly as a slugger , kelly just got too cocky. Only fought Barrera when pushed into a corner , as Barrera was a life and natural superBantam , his only other option at that time was Marquez who was breathing down his neck. Naz didnt engage with Barrera at all , as he knew from the first minute that to fight this man would be to get knocked out . Naz fought too many B level fighters , or smaller men.

This fight sums up Khan's 140 career - smoke and mirrors. Duck, dodge, avoid, pay off anyone who can punch, fight anyone who is either ancient, shot or feather-fisted (or a combination).

Tom Johnson was number one ranked featherweight by The Ring when Naz fought him.

Medina, Kelley, Bungu, Robinson were top five.

Vazquez, Soto, Ingle were top ten.

Khan's 'career' at 140 consists of three fights.

    One was a mandatory.

One was against a world champion and top ten fighter who is next up for Alexander.

One was against a top ten fighter who was one of the men called out by Tim Bradley after his last fight.

casamayor is an old lightweight, we all saw what khan did to a smaller, but natural jr. welter, in malignaggi....

This is a easy khan win...

Common man I think you are overreacting and exaggerating. Cepillo is old but (1) still a very big name, and (2) still a solid fighter for Khan to fight that quick after his last fight. Better then having his next fight after 6 months. I don't understand the problem at all:roll:
It's not like this will be his last fight.

Anyways: Khan by UD or late TKO

It's good to see Khan straight back in the ring...he still needs the experience at this level, no matter what people say. Alexander and Bradley are in future bouts...Maidana is still injured as far as I am aware...Prescott could have been an option, but at this point he is still irrelevant even if people want to see Khan rematch him.

An ok "stay busy" fight, thats all you can say really...
