It's kind of odd, lots of people are giving Kessler 1 and Calzaghe 2 but I felt it was the exact opposite. Interesting how different people see different things.
Its possible that I may have made a mistake in one of the rounds, as there was a commotion outside my house that partially distracted me. If I have the time tommorow, I'll look at that 8th round.
No biggy man, was an awsome fight, better than Taylor vs Pavlik. And with 2 better fighters than Taylor and Pavlik.
Definitely. I scored two even rounds when usually I'll score for the fighter throwing cleaner harder shots. .....but like you said, Calzaghe was outworkig and outhustling Kessler, and they were'nt all slaps. Some slaps, but he made sure to add some mustard to some of his shots in each round....certainly unlike a Pernell Whitaker for example, Calzaghe knows that judges want more than just slaps....and so he gives them some mustard inbetween some of his punches that have lesser intensity.
I'll watch it. It was a terrific fight! Like Kessler said, I different approach, and this fight can easily turn the other way. Kessler was definitely in the fight! I was just thinking that the HBO team was parraleling this fight beforehand with Leonard-Hearns! This is definitely one fight that would have benefited going 15 rounds. .....after losing 9, 10, and 11, Kessler upped the intensity in round 12 and won it convincingly. The younger fighter may have caught a 2nd or 3rd wind in the real championship rounds and turned this fight into the epic fight Leonard-Hearns now is. Dammit, bring back 15 rounders!!!
Not really. I think 8-4, or 7-3-1 is the best score. If you're looking to make it close for Kessler, the best case you can make for him is a 7-5 defeat. The 115-114 score is a a 6-5-1 type of score....the fight was not that close. The judges were ver good last night.
I had it 116-112 , which by the looks of this thread is the way most people had it(although there is obviouslt lots of people that scored it other ways) . 115-114 is a bit of a joke for me , if you really pushed you could give 115-113 but saying 115-114 is like saying the fight was so close that Kessler could of easily been given the decision .
