I'm going to make a poll about this topic whenever they give me my thread starting function back.

Floyd said he wanted to fight 5 moar times after he beat Marquez, and he already has one down after getting a W over Mosley. That leaves 4 left, and if he fights twice per a year 2012 might be the last year we'll ever see him lace them up.

The only way this could happen would be if Floyd, like Roy put on 20 odd pounds of muscle and then had to lose it at age 34/35. That wrecked Roy's punch resistance.

Well, he is very smart in the ring like Bernard. His chin won't fade like Roy unless he does something crazy in moving up in weight. Your legs are the first thing to go and his are not quite like they used to be but he has shown he can fight in various ways to win. I imagine he could handle another 5 years if he wanted. Plus, like Hopkins he is always in shape and hasn't taken very much punishment in the ring. He also has gotten away from the bad habit that really hurt Roy when his legs went. Playing the rope-a-dope!

RJJ relied totally on his talent and did not MASTER boxing. So once his talents slipped a bit and the competition was able to catch up he started losing (not to mention the jump-up and drop down in weight).

PBF while maybe the only boxer more dedicated to the sport and training than Bhop (IF THAT IS POSSIBLE) probably will not continue much longer. He retired for 2 years to let his body heal.

I think he stays at 147 (unless the money is right with sergio) because he not a large WW and has no problem making weight. Also, Pwill, Cotto and company will move down to look for a huge Payday.

If his body was able to hold out, and if he wanted to . . . which I doubt, he would be a lot closer to Bhop than RJJ.

mayweather and roy jones got different styles jones relied more on his athletic skills and mayweather even when his athletic skills start to go he is still defensive and technically gifted to ever lose the way jones did in the later part of his career

Floyd would never lose like that he is too technically sound, rjj was not technically sound just athletic.

I think Floyds fundamentals are too good to suffer the devastating losses Jones has, he fights in a way where even if his speed and reflexes declines he's got a plan B.

Like most have been saying.... Mayweather will most likely never have a RJJ loss... 1.) because he doesn't take big enough risks (you won't see him move up in weight to fight a big puncher) and 2.) because he is a master boxer, unlike Roy who relied solely on his physical gifts... i believe floyd is the smartest fighter to ever lace them up... so i just don't see him getting ko'd cold.

Unless he goes up 20 lbs to face a guy naturally bigger than him than come back down I don't see how he losses like Jones .People have to remember what caused Jones demise ..That along with age ..Floyd doesn't take me as the type that will fight for much longer ..Plus he's the safest boxer to ever lace them up ..Which makes him a genius at defense so unless he gets clocked against a puncher over and over again I don't see it happening .
