I think to a degree you are right. He couldnt quite make the transition to the very best fighters in his division. But that aint everything. Being entertaining? Giving it your all and not shying away from any fight, thats what i like to watch. Yeah he lost to Tyson but he was winning on points until the KO. He should have got the win over shannon Briggs but it wasnt given and the Ettiene fight he clearly won and it wasnt given. And he has mixed it up a few rounds with the best. I dont think he sucks. Dont you mean Don King sucks. Winning isnt everything you need game oppsition to make fights. Entertainment wise i think he is a top drawer heavyweight. Name me a heavyweight these days with his entertainment value?? I am quite interested to know who you think doesnt suck in the heavyweight division. Is it just fighters with a nearly unblemished record??
Plenty of fighters out there better then Botha and u know it. He got fights because of his skin color abd sometimes fighting other heayweights controlled by King. A win win situation 4 king. Botha vs purrity would of been interesting tho. Botha is done.
It looks as if the 47 year old Warrior Holyfield shot an arrow deep into the shoulder region of the White Buffalo Express........and she fell to her knees in a heap of defeated and washed-up bovine. LOL
Think you hit the nail on the head. But i kinda still hope he takes one more veteran fight. Just on an undercard of a bigger heavyweight fight or something along those lines. Although i think he would be a good fight for Briggs at the moment and would lead to an interesting fight. But time will tell.
A little research and i got this from the WBF site from their president While it is not the end of the road for Botha, and there is talk of a WBFed international heavyweight title fight in Vegas later in the year, Botha will need to prepare better and train harder. Botha remains a quality heavyweight and a fit and focused Botha will take a lot of stopping. One last fight i hope maybe on the cards me thinks. Mind you if he wins i cant see him stopping!! Go Botha!
Another update and sounds like a fight is close. Quote from WBF president...... We have Francois Botha aiming to resurrect his career in Las Vegas next month, Evander Holyfield defending in September, top promoter Piotr Werner staging a huge double header in two months time, two women’s world title fights in East London next month, the list is both impressive and endless. Probarbly a winnable fight against the two other heavyweight they have other than holyfield. But i wont pretend i know anything about the likes of Travis Kauffman Their intercontinental champion or Laslo Hubert their international champion???!! But i will be watching out for updates....
Buffalo butt needs to retire. He has no business inside a boxing ring any more or any where near a boxing ring.
I wouldnt go that far. Maybe he shouldnt be near a ring with a world class fighter. But a fellow older fighter or a rookie who might benefit from the notoriety of fighting botha i think is a reasonable way for him to fight again.
Sounds like Botha will be fighting again (In october). With fighters like David Tua, Hasim Rahman and Shannon Briggs being mentioned!!! Followed by the winner fighting Holyfield! The seniors could really turn out some interesting matches if any of these do go ahead. I will also be interested to see how his promoting goes. The following is what i cut from the WBF official site and for us Botha fans should be very entertaining to see The World Boxing Federation is delighted with the on-going contribution of its former world heavyweight champion Francois ‘White Buffalo’ Botha, because while Botha is in training and will be ready for a major fight in October, he has taken out a license as a promoter in order to ensure development within South Africa’s boxing community. Botha, who was leading on points when stopped in the eighth round by Evander Holyfield earlier this year, has vowed to win back his WBFed heavyweight title. Fighters in Botha’s sight before a rematch with the 'Real Deal' include David Tua, Shannon Briggs and Hasim Rahman. A tremendously talented fighter, Botha, who in his career has not always dedicated himself fully, announced that he will be as fit as he has ever been as he continues his quest to regain the title. At the same time, Botha wants to give back to boxing and without sponsors or television will be promoting his first show in Cape Town on Aug. 1. That show will include a WBFed All Africa cruiserweight championship between Alex Mbaya from the Congo, 11-2 (9), and Roland Francis, 24-11 (13). Boxing SA, as well as the WBFed are delighted to be gaining a new promoter with such a high profile. Howard Goldberg, president of the WBFed and himself based in Cape Town, said: "It's always entertaining when Francois is involved, be it as a fighter or now as a promoter. I have no doubt the fans will support such a charismatic personality."
