IMO Oscar going 2-6 has nothing to do with whether or not he can beat Cotto presently.Realy thats not a logical way at looking at things. Oscars mind state, and inactivity would be a real factor if this fight were to take place. Look at all those mega fights...Took Trinidad to school(was robbed).Went 12 hard rounds with a prime Mosley(very close fight)lost that fight by a point in my eyes.Out boxed Mosley in the second fight and won the fight(was robbed). Was ahead on 1 or 2 judges score cards when he was hit in the liver from a natural middle weight in Hopkins, one of the best MW IMO since Hagler.Gave Mayweather his toughest fight in rout to a split dec victory for Floyd Jr.You can argue Castillo being the only other fighter to do aswell against Mayweather. We all know what happened with the Pac fight.IMO it wasn't more so that Oscar lost it,the real big thing he lost was his ability to make 147lbs. Oscar may not be able to beat Cotto presently, but with Oscar having that great left jab, boxing ability and one punch KO power,I think he takes Cotto in 07.
Personaly,i would rather see the rubber match with Creed. :bbb After all,Rocky did beat Apollo by one second.
I thought we were talking about right now. Isn't that what this whole thread is about? The present. Balboa and Drago can still happen right now! Let's do this! :happy:happy:happy
How could it happen? I guess you didn't hear,,,Drago was blind folded and locked up in a small dungeon somewhere. He was then hung up by his big toe before being nearly beaten to death after he took the loss to Rocky. I hear he's still there...
I respect your opinion, but the fact is, all you did was make excuses (yes some were legit) for all of dlh's biggest losses. But the fact still remains. I liked dlh, and was upset when he reitred, but he's fought since what, he was 7? If he came back it COULD be competitive for a little bit, but imho Oscar's wear and tear matched with his inactivity would just be too much to overcome. Would he erase some of the "DLH loses his biggest fights" image in my head if he did beat Cotto? Absolutely. What a swang song it would be if he came back one last time, beat a outstanding fighter while winning a belt it what would be a mega event. But that happening for legendary names in boxing is all too rare nowadays it seems...
Would rather see Rocky vs. Apollo 3. Oh wait, Apollo is dead - Drago killed him. OK, Rocky vs Drago 2 then.....I thought Oscar won't fight Puerto Ricans because his wife said she doesn't want to have to root against him, and that if he does fight a PR fighter she will punish him by dressing him in fishnet stockings and high heels and taking pictures of him and posting them all over the internet. Wait....................
Booooooooooooooooooooring. Do you work for GBP? Oscar is long retired - let him stay that way. He doesn't need this fight for the business (business for letting Floyd milk his legacy) like he did with Floyd. Boring is the key word here. Another bull-**** fight that would once again scam some fans into separating them from their money.
Were you watching what was going on in Drago's corner in between rounds? Tenderly and sensitively...I think NOT!
That was my whole point. It's realy not fair to give an opinion to whether or not Oscar would be able to beat Cotto presently or in '07,based on him lossing some of his biggest fights.(Almost all being suspect). Like i pointed out before, his inactivity and mind state would be a real factor if this fight happened.Like you pointed out with the wear n tear factor(Oscar having 200+amature fights since the age of 5 doesn't help either).Lets face it,Oscar is retired and the reason why IMO most great fighters who make a comeback dont succeed is the simple fact of them making the comeback for all the wrong reasons.
