Man Lopez hit way harder than anyone Cotto has fought, and harder than anyone around today. Not too many fighters past and present would be able to hurt Ike like that. You act like getting dropped by Oscar, means you have a bad chinatsch Oscar could bang at Welter. Quartey was a much better offensive fighter than Clottey and look at the trouble he gave Cotto, Quartey also hits a lot harder. Vargas,Forrest were both naturally bigger than Cotto and they never seriously hurt Quartey, I saw Vince Phillips (big puncher at jw and even at welter a good puncher) and Ike walked through his best punch like it was a harmless jab. Vargas would have outboxed Margos the way he did Yori Boy, except for Margarito would have made a strong late surge.
Don't forget it was 3 years earlier against an active Mosley, hence Mayweather met him in 2010 when Mosley have been unactiv for 16 months:hi:
Ike would lose, gets hit too much. And clottey won, he got robbed. Anyone that outlands an oppenet and has him running backwards the whole fight wins sorry. Clottey is better than a prime ike. (And clottey threw the fight with pacquio. I called it back then, still believe it now. And if you got offered millions and was getting extorted by your promoter, why not?) And expect clottey to run through everyone at 154. Mark my words. Even through dithinkich (or whatever the **** his name is)
Cotto beat an old Mosley in a close somewhat contraversial fight. Quartey lost a SD to a PEAK De La Hoya in a close somewhat contraversial fight. Quartey is an extremely good fighter, and if you followed boxing in the 90's you'd know that.
i have followed boxing since the 90's. not saying is a bad boxer just not as highly rated as most give him credit for. Cotto is still fighting and has time to make his mark. His career isnt over by any means.
Don't take me wrong..Cotto is more accomplished than Quartey, mostly because Quartey fought in an era where the talent pool was deeper..but I see Quartey as a better skilled more talented fighter than Cotto...Also, Cotto's best days are behind him, he may make some noise against Cintron, but against Margarito, Williams, and Martinez, I see him losing.
If Cotto fought in Quartey's era, Cotto would not have beat any big names..hell..the only BIG name he beat was an OLD Mosley.
