Jim Watt had it for Valuev going into the final round and in one judge's eyes it was a draw 114-114. It didn't surprise me cause there it was the same score for Valuev-Holyfield in one of that judge's card... These were very strategical fights where Haye followed Holyfield's blueprint in fighting Valuev. However I disagree on Haye having had 116-112 scores and Valuev had 116-112 scores against Holyfield... Holyfield did commit much more to fight than Haye who threw a lot of sloppy, silly punches and basically made most advantage of Valuev's lack of mobility.

I don't have my round-by-round card handy or anything, but I'm pretty sure I had it 8-4.

More to do with inactivity winning Valuev rounds though, Haye not doing enough. It wasn't like the big guy with surging forward with dynamite in both hands, just that Haye's potshot counterpunching approach sometimes took too long between shots.

Fine, let's address some of my generalizations. Do you or do you not pledge your allegiance to the queen?

You're totally missing the point, this is all relative. Well done on spotting the distinct lack of punches Haye threw, amazingly astute observation there Sherlock, however in comparison he threw far more convincing punches than Valuev so he wins the clean effective punching catagory.

The scoring isn't based on comparing it to other fights, its scored entirely independently.

And you score defence because it's one of the criteria that judges are supposed to score of you ****ing moron.

No he didn't, that was the point. Barely anything landed from round one through eleven.

one question to the people who have Valuev winning...

How do you win a fight if you barely land a single blow?

Again you're missing the point, it's irrelevant how many he landed/threw in and of itself. In comparison to Valuev's output/effort he was significantly more successful.

The numbers were dire, but Haye landed a handful of clean hard shots in every round. Boring ass 1-2's and stuff but they were clear and landed well. Same can't be said for Valuev.
