Does anyone else think it cheapens the sport when cut men don't use gloves. In this day and age it really should be mandatory? Anyone agree some corners are completely embarassing? There are only a handfull of trainers who actually give some sort of meaningful coherent advice. I mean try watching a fight with a non boxing fan and the broadcaster says lets listen in on the corner and you have some ****** who is yelling incoherent advice while he is shadow boxing like a crazy person. Or when a trainer is giving advice in a language that is completely foreign to the fighter. How about when the corner doesnt even bring a water bottle and only uses paper cups. Can you imagine Tiger woods caddie uncontrollably shadow golfing when he wants to know what club to use to lay up and then procedding to tell Tiger that he forgot the putter. Dont get me started about the talent of cut men. Gotta love boxing.
Yoel Judah is the funniest cornerman.. All he does is shadow box while yelling at Zab then he forgets he doesnt have the cap on the water bottle and splashes water all over zab hahaha
Exactly, and it should be a rule that a corners pay is withheld when they cant even accuratley tell their figher what round it is. Again would a caddie not be aware of the hole their golfer is on?
Boom Boom Bop Bop is what seperates champions from contenders. What do you guys think of cornerman not using gloves does it bother you at all?
It bothers me. Sometimes it seems like cutmen nowadays learned their craft watching Rocky I-V "Cut me, Mick..." atsch
I like when the trainer speaks one language and someone in the corner has to translate it. I remember watching a Mayorga fight and Stacey McKinley had to keep telling someone what to tell him.
LMAO yea thats exactly what he says and he throws his fists around and almost hits zab! Zab not only gotta worry about duckin his opponents punches but he also has to duck his fathers punches while in the corner, no wonder he runs out of gas after 4 rounds! THe poor guy is fighting 2 men at once! hahaha :rofl
If you're actually thinking about how a cutman not using gloves when treating a cut makes the sport less classy, then I don't know what to say to you. I personally like that there are different personalities in boxing and it has always been the realest sport in front of the camera.
Its not about being less classy its about having structure or parameters. Lets face it these commisions suck. Their is no continuity among states or commisions. There should be structures and rules that exist across the board, same rules, same medical exams, designated gloves, belts (never happen) and even small things like gloves. As long as their are different rules their wll be chaos. Boxing always hurts itself from inside out. Boxing should evolve but not lose its edge. What guys do you like their insight in the corner because I agree when done right it helps the drama of the fight.
You're all over the place. First it's the gloves, then it's the advice trainers give, and then it's the manner in which they give it. :huh And what about the talent of cut men? Are you Jesse Reid? Are u still angry at Lamon Brewster for letting u go cuz u sound like a disgruntled trainer. Better yet...is this Kevin Rooney? C'mon is that you?
ok if the boxers cared about the cups then they would get water bottles with twisty snap aquirt caps but some don't i bet some do, if the cut men cared they would wear gloves. Some believe that their fighter is clean and healthy so there is no reason to wear gloves cuz if their boxer has no desease then what is there to contract
