Good Luck to Derry and his new team...Bravest of the Brave http://www.britishboxers.co.uk/2010/06/derry-ready-for-return.html
To be honest he always looked weight drained and way too thin when he was winning, so moving up in weight is a great decision...maybe made too late...but atleast he made the decision. Good Luck Derry, will be cheering you when you return!
Good luck to Derry. Seems like a nice lad. he was always a very tall Super Feather so maybe lw will be more comfortable for him, he's not too old either
thanks for your support guys , people think am pat it people think am to small for leightweight there open to there opinions but am just goin out there to do my job , have fell in love with the sport again i feel good big and strong and all ready to go again am in full trainin and just to let u all no am back and will be nockin on the door very soon for a title fight beleive me am hungry again and carnt wait to prove the doughters wrong , cheers derry mathews x
All the best to Derry, I'm not gonna knock a fighter, but with campainging at lightweight, his last fight against Lawton was at 9st 6lb which ain't too far off the lightweight limit so was weight really an issue then? Anyway good luck if you believe it yourself, it doesn't matter what us posters think you know yourself better than us lot!
chees pal i think the weight and also falling out of love with the sport was the big part but have recharged myself , changed camps , fell inlove with boxing again and the most important one is enjoying it again just hope i can prove the dowters wrong and win a british title , must be the only fighter to win a british champion and not win the title ha ha cheers derry
Good luck Derry, i have forgiven you for most of your dirtiness. Hope it all goes well for you at lightweight.
If your referring to your 'win' over simpson then we both know you didnt win that fight but lets not get into all that again! Good luck with your comeback!!
I think he'd be successful at this weight. Always thought he looked a bit weight drained so a stronger derry mathews would definitely be a force at british level. Tbh I think he's a better boxer than Murray and if he survived early on could box his way to a points win. Don't think mitchell should stay at lightweight either so he would be a worthy challenger after a couple of comeback fights.
Good Luck mate and great to have you back!! That army of fans will get some more great nights out of you I am sure of that!! Hunger and drive are everything in this game and I firmly believe you have got them both back!! Good luck my mate..:good
