I know last night the big fight was Calzaghe-Kessler but the Marquez fight was damn good and should set up a rematch with Pacquiao. What do you guys think about his performance and the outcome of the rematch???

There are threads already discussing this, but........

Marquez was very impressive. The difference in skill between Juarez and Marquez is huge. JMM laid out a complete one sided beating, much more impressive than what MAB and Soto did to Juarez.

JMM showed he still has good hand speed, good power, great defense and skill set, good foot work, and stamina. He sure could have made it a borefest a la MAB if he wanted to but I am glad he didn't. The cut would have made it more interesting but with the same outcome.

The Pacquiao that showed up to the Solis and MAB fights gets his ass kicked for sure and needs to up his game for this one.

Bring on Marquez - Pacquiao II!!! :D

JMM did exactly what a true elite fighter should do to a solid B fighter, outclass him and practically shut him out. Marquez-Pacquiao MUST happen next and as soon as possible. I still think he has enough left in him to beat Pacquiao and his age / fading reflexes will balance out with Manny's combination of longtime partying in between fights, weight problems, and distractions. It's still a close fight, but I see it as at least 60/40 Marquez.

I really think it might end very bad for Pacquiao.. a loss to JMM, a loss to Guzman, moving up to 135 to get a big comeback fight against Diaz only to get stopped, and then retiring with a legacy of big wins over past-prime great fighters.

Definately agree with you on everything except i would replace that loss to Guzman to Soto. Soto will be heard in this division if not the lightweight he has stated he wants to move up.

JMM isn't getting any younger, especially since he's started to mix it up more the past few years. I think Pac beats him decisively the second time around.

    I agree!
Unless he fights like what MAB did. Endless back peddling and refuse to exchange blows to ensure his feet is on the ground at the end of the fight!

Pacquaio is too wild and sloppy for JMM. The good thing is Pac is agressive and that'll make it exciting, but will leave him open for the WBC champ. Anything could happen though. Marquez seriously called out Pac, so we'll see if Pac wants it. I honestly think PAC is gonna duck him until JMM slows down much more. Juan fought very strong all 12.
