115-111 Marquez (that's including two deducted points for low blows from Marquez.)

It was a while ago and I'd like to rewatch it but if memory serves it should have been a comfortable victory for Marquez and the only thing that made the score competitive was the deducted points. Maybe it was a bit closer than I had it but the score cards by the judges were awful (one had John up 6 points which was disgraceful.) Marquez never had a chance in that fight to get a decision.

I had it 114-112 to JMM. I might watch and score it again now.

It begs the question: How on earth did John win the fight?

I had Marquez 3 rounds ahead but to be honest thought he would lose immediately after the fight. It was always going to be a hometown decision.

I dont think it was a robbery TBH. I think a had Marquez by a point or 2 but can understand a very close fight either way. John is pritty good.

I scored it for John by 2 points the first time, then 2nd time I scored it a draw.

Marquez is a counterpuncher at heart and will always struggle with fighters who don't really engage. Same thing happened with Norwood

I consider it a robbery based on the disparity in scoring. If John won a decision by the scrape of his teeth I could maybe accept it (after all, he had two points deducted for low blows) but the judges all scored fairly wide in his favor. He was never going to win that fight by decision.

It's a fight I give Marquez a lot more credit for than John, that much is certain.

I don't remember the exact rounds, but I remember scoring it 6-6, with John winning because of the deductions. Part of the problem is that Marquez won more wide rounds than John, but the close rounds count too. John controlled a lot of rounds moving backwards behind his jab.

I had JMM winning by a 2 rounds, with 4 drawn rounds, hehe. I couldn't give John the 10th or 11th rounds even though he had the deducted points. Just out of curiosity, how did everyone score the final round?

digging up some old posts, I scored it 7-5 for John the first time, and 7-5 for Marquez the first time. Not counting the point deductions.

John boxed on his toes more, and JMM tried to play the agressor and power puncher. It's a hard style for JMM cause John is more of a outside boxer not really open to counters.

    the 12th was Marquez' round.

I had it Marquez by a considerable amount. It was a cautious fight but Marquez landed the harder shots consistently.
