Bernard Hopkins vs Joe Calzaghe who wins?

    This is not an easy fight by any means for Joe, but I think Joe would find a way to win. A few years ago, this might have been a different story, but even then, that's not necessarily true.

    Joe as well as Hopkins are living legends, but right now I'd pick Joe to beat him.

    Maybe not....he did wallop a big enough punch to catch Tarver off balance. Calzaghe has very bad balance and often leaves himself in very bad positions. I believe a battle of fundamentals favors Hopkins, and I believe his superior over all skills lead him to a masterful performance which keeps Calzaghe befuddled.

    I think he was ready to cave, too....but one thing Hopkins does better than any other is ADAPT in the ring. He is very versatile and great at making adjustments that exploit his opponents' weaknesses.

    If Hopkins didn't believe he could figure Joe out, I don't think he'd be entertaining the thought of such a fight.

    And I, for one, would love to see it at Yankees stadium!

    The from past fights i have noticed that the thing you dont want to do to Calzaghe is **** him off, or hurt him during the fight (look what happened to Mitchell when he floored Joe for the 1st time in his career). Calzaghe is a very clever boxer...but he also loves a good tear up (majority of boxers would have run for the entire 12th round the other night with the fight in the bag....where as Joe just wanted the oppotunity to test his own chin against Kesslers punches just one more time!).

    At this stage of their careers Joe beats Hopkins in EVERY department

    Defense? Versatility? Big-fight experience? Making adjustments in the ring? Fighting on the outside? Counter-punching? Bending the rules in his favor without getting caught? Scrapping on the inside? Rolling with punches? Dodging punches? Blocking punches? Circling his opponent? Punching power?

    Calzaghe has one advantage--punch output, and that in and of itself will not be enough against Hopkins.

    You make good points. Bernard has another thing going for him, he's always hungry and when you listen to Calzaghe he's got his eye on retirement. I think really, really wants to hang up his gloves.

    Even his fans talk about how old the 35 year old welshman is, how he's fading, and how he was only 70% of what he once was. Meanwhile they are demanding an elite 43 year old scalp. LOL.

    This fight could do some monstrous PPV numbers if it's held in the states. With Calzaghe's rabid following combined with an established American veteran the money would be huge. **** the live gate. That's small potatoes compared to PPV's especially when you see some of the recent PPV totals. This fight would have two PPV draws.

    I've only seen Hopkins fight once, against Eastman and I was impressed by his style. I wouldn't expect any walkover for any fighter and it would be an interesting match up, if not an exciting tear up.

    A loss for any fighter wouldn't be a blight on their outstanding careers.

    Ok i will give you defense and bending the rules. How about Hopkins got beaten twice by a guy who's not in the same league as Calzaghe

    This is what Calzaghe fans are banking on? That Calzaghe is better than Taylor and Taylor "beat" Hopkins twice?

    Calzaghe is better than Taylor, but their styles are like night and day, and I believe Calzaghe's strengths will be used against him in a bout with Hopkins.

    Apart from defence, complete rubbish - versatility, big-fight experience, making adjustments in the ring (isn't this akin to versatility?), fighting on the outside, counter-punching, etc etc etc. Joe has them all.
