What fight is this insane KO from? (Gif)

That was mad, surprised I've never seen it before...

Could've killed him that, or ruined the rest if his life. You don't want to be taking too many of those in your career...

 

Not to nit-pick, but I think he was a sergeant.

 

You should see what he did to Tommy Morrison then. Incidentally the ref involved in the Morrison Mercer fiasco never reffed another fight again. Its a small wonder Tommy never suffered permanent brain damage.

Mercer was a vicious SOB. He reminded me alot of Teddy Reid who was also a very spiteful fighter.

 

That is brutal. It's so hard that you can't even see his head snap out of position properly.

 

If there's a moral of the story, it's this: For the love of all that's good and just in the world, don't ever ****ing let yourself get caught on the ropes against Ray Mercer unless you plan on giving Father Time a few years back off your life span. Pegues, Morrison, and Steele were all damn near decapitated that way.

Very few KO's are as bad as this one. I've seen quite a few that I thought were sort of "I'm going down so I can get out of this." A guy out of Washington DC did this against a Klitschko in Germany a few years back.

 

I watched that fight. It was actually the ref's fault not Mercer's. Ray was walking away from the guy knowing he was down and hung up on the ropes, but once he saw that the ref didn't step in he rushed in for a last powershot because he figured the action was still going. Mercer was simply doing his job.


By the the way, in his next fight Mercer knocked Don Steele completely out of the right with a right cross to the body. "Merciless" Ray Mercer lived up to his name nickname like no other.
