He's getting full of himself, and is leading Pacman into slaughter based on predictions of his in the past against washed up and drained fighters. It's easy to say "Hatton will be gone in 3 rounds", when he was getting stunned left and right against Lazcano, or, "We'll take Oscar out in 9" when you witness him being drained and gaunt at the race-track after losing 20lbs of muscle.

Roach had 4 years to come up with a blueprint to beat Marquez. He failed. He has no blueprint to defeat anyone. He simply drains washed up fighters into beating themselves. Pac has never beaten an elite undefeated fighter in his entire career.

in terms of coaching/trainer, I see him as a Pat Riley. In Roach's own words, "He's the best trainer because he's got the best fighter". Succinct but non egotistical quote of himself.

I think he had the right gameplan with Oscar against Floyd. I had him winninng until he stopped using the jab. He was also telling Hopkins to throw more punches.

Its not the trainer's fault when fighters can't do what they tell you.
