Martinez is used to having a huge speed advantage on his opponents and his style depends on it. He is used to fighting with his hands low and getting away with it. Mayweather has faced quite a few guys with fast handspeed so he is used to it. Its not his handspeed that is his best asset but his reflexes and sense of timing. I suspect he would find it easy to hit and not be hit against Martinez.

A similar situation occurred in the Paulie v Kahn fight. Paulie tried to outbox him but he was beaten to the punch every time. Kahn kept a tight defense and Paulie had his hands low because thats all he knows and he never had to face anyone with his own speed.

Why are there so many threads about Mayweather facing Martinez? Is he at least 35 years old?

Martinez is definitely open to constant counters, and Mayweather is the best at it. I think he'd win a comfortable decision.

If Mayweather ducks pac and fight Martinez. It just shows how he really respects Pac's might. Regardless of what he and the *****s say, Mayweather is afraid of the Pac that annihilated Cotto and Hatton.

I Agree. But don't forget that Martinez has a height and reach advantage over Mayweather. I believe that could be a huge factor in this fight although I think Mayweather would beat Martinez.

It would be an interesting match-up for sure. Both guys are fast and Martinez is not known for pressing the action (which he would have to do), he in on the other hand a guy that can go 12 barely breaking a sweat. One problem I see is that Martinez has a habit of taking a break in the mid rounds but if he can't build a points lean early he's dead in the water against a guy like Mayweather who doesn't loose rounds.

Yeh Mayweather would get a win but a tough fight for Floyd due to the weight difference.

Mayweather wants to make this one happen. At 156.

And mayweather blows vs southpaws, so it's even.

I think this fight is a lot tougher than people think. Martinez is the bigger guy who is very active, uses the ring pretty good, throws a lot of punches in weird angles and has a good chin. Mayweather being the superior fighter ability wise would win by SD but I wouldnt be surprised if it was the opposite. Very close fight IMO.

Martinez is a better and more multi dimensional boxer than Malinaggi.
