as for a Green-Mundine fight at 180 i dont know.i thought Green would KTFO Mundine in the first fight as all his fights bar Sullivan,Beyer where i think he was too cautious 2nd time around fearing another DQ and the Mexican finished inside the distance and Mundine arseraped him.depends on wether Mundine still has his speed and reflexes at the higher weight.Green if forced too choose.
i totally agree ash, you never over match your prospect. you train him in the gym for the fight's then set fight's so he apply the tools he has learnt. thats fine untill at least 15 to 20 fight's. then you start looking for the smaller titles, from there if there ready you take the world on. but these two guy's are not prospect's they call out the world and do nothing, there not new comers they both have decent records. face it the guy's there calling out are not coming over here. that's why kostya went to the u.s to fight zab and england to fight hatton, or even the great indigenous champion hecktor thomsen who went and fought the great durran in south america. if you say your the best then fight the best. they should just stay in there divison's and fight champions. plus briggs is ready to go, remember he's fought on a much bigger stage than both these guy's. his fights with thomas admeick were wars. he's already put his money were his mouth is
Fair call mate...Im not saying Mundine is as good as VIC or KT....I dont know if he will ever take the big fights again...its a shame as I thought he went well against Kessler even though he lost.
great tallent its a shame that he was'nt managed better as far as image goes , and kept his mouth shut and let his boxing do the talking. could have gone a lot further and been a true champion and made even more money and more importantly respect in the boxing world.
Its hard to understand why they didnt go higher in 2007-2008. Mundine said hes still got 5 years left and this will be his best years...only time will tell if he gets the big fights or keeps fighting average guys for money
id love to see him and green in big fight's in vegas against some top fighter's. i think it would do wounders for the kidz coming through. and build there world profiles and not there bank account's
Simple, they've targeted the easy money. I don't believe he has 5 good years left. He's 35 and relys heavily on good reflexes and speed. This is the first thing to go as you age. Whilst he hasn't boxed for long (compared to some) he has been a high level athlete for a long time. His days are numbered at the level he's at now. I give him 2 years tops at his current level.
Green wouldn't make 168 now. My post was just a way to say Green beats Mundine end of story. He'd never fight him at 168. But if they ever did come to a compromise or a catchweight, Green would bust him like a grape.
the only reason I'm leaning towards a Green ko is because Mundine would have lost his speed or a bit of it at this age.. Green couldnt eventually beat him by ko.. U never know..
Certainly a big, but realistic call, coming from you Ash. It's certainly now or never, but it was now or never in 2007-2008 too.
Although you have picked the correct outcome, how can you make a split decision prediction :huh? Mundine couldn't lose to green if he tried, the gulf in class is too wide.
