We live in an era where the once minority (aboriginals, islanders etc) are pretty much now the majority in Rugby league. Johns comments unfortunately were part n parcel of the 1980's and 90's but 2010 is a different time.

In saying that, i think the situation is not helped when Thurston gathered all the colured QLD SOO players last year for a photo opportunity...... this didn't offend me as a white person but maybe it did someone else, notice there was no issue with this at the time. Imagine if Darren Lockyer gathered all the white players and asked to take a photo????

 

Yes, in front or to some of my mates I would, as they would not care or would find it funny, but I would not in front of other mates that would get upset.

It is up to Tahu to let Johns know that it is not on, if he has been saying stuff like that for years and Tahu never said any thing it is his own fault.

 

its just a descriptive term.. If your black your a black ****, if your bald your a bald ****, if your fat your a fat ****, if your tall your a big ****, short your a short ****.. Theres nothing racist about it and it doesnt mean joey wants to go round and lynch inglis on his front lawn while wearing a white hood.

 

Yep i always use the word **** after describing something or someone.

on another note, its hardly bad racism to be called names.

Through my work I've had to work in western Africa and middle east. Its racism when you have to live in a guarded compound and carry weapons and if you go out at night you WILL get killed for being white.

I was offered work on an island off the coast populated mainly by Aborigines.... I was told that there was a blanket ban on alcohol consumption while we were on the island.... and there was to be no mingling with the locals and we would be locked up in a compound at night.

I innocently asked if that was to prevent us from inteferring with their culture.

The answer I got was ... "No..... That is for your own protection.... The young men are very agressive.... they hate whites and will kill you if they get the chance"

I'm thinking that is a little worse than being called a few names

BTW: It was Aboriginal housing I was meant to be working onatsch... So "Whitey" has to put his neck on the line to build housing for ****s that will kill him if they get the chance.... FFS!
