All aboard the Hillyard Hammer Express. Chauncy "The Hillyard Hammer" Welliver, a good friend of mine, is now rated WBO #11 at heavyweight and he is ready to take the division by storm. He is ready and willing to fight the big names out there with a new team behind him. Currently managed by Roland Jankelson (who took Pinklon Thomas to a world title shot) and trained by Joe "The Boss" Hipp (one of the toughest fighters of all time imo, and the first Native American to fight for the heavyweight title), Chauncy is more slim and trim nowadays and is ready to surprise a lot of people. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=24161&more=1 All fans of the Hillyard Hammer, show your support and hop on board this express train headed towards the heavyweight title.:bbb
That's cool, I always wondered what happened to Hipp after all those wars he was in. He had phenomenal toughness. Glad to see Welliver's really buckling down and focusing on his career now. I don't know that much about him, but I got the gist he was fighting for fun moreso to maximize how good he could be before. Looks like he's focused and getting in shape though- although it'd be tough not to go down after weighing in at 280+ when he fought Solis. :thumbsup
