i weigh 264... started at 280...ive been dieting 3 weeks.. first two i lost 15 all together and this last week i lost 1... i train 5x a week for a boxing and my coach said the other day i need to start running around 3-6 miles 5x a week.. why did i hardly lose any weight this week? i eat 3 clean meals a day and drink alot of water
What do you eat? You don't need to run 5 days a week... And 15 pounds is a lot for 2 weeks, mostly water but still too much. You should be aiming for around 2 lbs per week for healthy fat loss.
16 pounds in 3 weeks... i eat steak, chicken, salad, fruit, fish, brown rice... i know how to eat thats not the problem
I think there is nothing wrong with you, 2lbs is the most you wanna be loosing in aweek jusr like Virus said. You lost 1 pound last week...? Well done.. **** all this loosing 15lbs in 2 weeks, another stupid boxer coach again..? only in the world of boxing. Some people really need to get out of the Dark Ages. Carry on with what your doing, if you was to loose 15lbs in 2 weeks. You would be loosing muscle mass aswell, basically you would just be ****ing your body over.
well my coach didnt say 5x a week i kinda just figured he meant that.. hes a great coach.. he coached the poland olympic team
ya 5-6 smaller meals is for the hardcore people, like bodybuilders and stuff. But some people just don't have the time for that kinda stuff. Cardio cardio cardio. 30 minutes of non stop cardio. You can do 3 miles 5x a week for your 30 minutes of cardio, thats what i do. Or if you like, you can do these. Sprint the straightaway (100m), jog for the turns, no walking (100m "active rest"), rinse and repeat, OR YOU CAN DO BOTH YEAH! Boxing workouts can only do so much even if it is for 2-3 hours a day, but supplementing them with strength and conditioning training will put you way ahead of the pack.
not hardcore..smart and healthy take note of how many times u have snacks a day and then think how hard it would be to substitute that with a good form of protein if u have time for 2-3hours boxing a day, u have time to prepare meals no matter how much cardio u do u wont lose weight if unless ur calorie in<calorie out
So If I do this cardio routine and eat 'normal meals will i lose weight? Is boxing training not strength and conditioning training? Will eating less then 5-6 meals a day have a negative impact on my metabolism? I know the answer to all these questions. Doesn't seem like you do. Another expert
eating 5-6 meals a day will speed up your metabolism.. i just feel like i walk out of boxing with my shirt completely drenched and still am having trouble losing consistent weight
1-2 pounds per week is a realistic target. Ensuring you have a good, balanced diet (see the eatwell plate)- achieve a caloric deficit each day. Work out your BMR(http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/), then from there try and aim for a maximum of a 500 cal defecit (harris benedict equation). Any less then that and you'll do yourself in. Make intelligent choices with your food. Complex carbs in the morning- protein in the evening. Weight your intake slightly towards carbs. Ensure you take in a good balance of nutrients and have at least 3 L of water a day. Your a sports man so your needs are slightly different to a fat mum. You also need to try and find out your body fat %. If this is low and you are lean then losing weight is going to be very difficult anyway. Also bear in mind that up to 25% of your weight loss will be muscle tissue. Thats coming from a qualified nutritionist and former professional boxer who used to make 9st 4lbs- I now walk around at a muscular 11st 2-6.
it took me about 2 yrs of experimentation to work out a sustainable weight loss regime that works for me. before this, i would either go so far that i lost the will after 3-4 days or i'd work out like a maniac and lose no weight (shirt drenched etc etc) because i wasn't eating correctly. the key is cardio and diet. you can work as hard as you want in the boxing gym but if your cardio and diet are not on point you will lose like 1 lb a month, maybe less. heres what is working for me: 7AM - RUN (I AM TO RUN 3-5 TIMES A WEEK) 9AM - OATMEAL W RAISINS + CINNAMON 12 - BROWN PASTA, TUNA, SWEETCORN, DICED TOMATOES OR TUNA SALAD SANDWICH ON BROWN BREAD OR SUSHI (BROWN RICE, TUNA OR SALMON + AVOCADO) 3 PM - MIXED FRESH FRUITS OR NUTS 5:30 PM - BOX (AROUND 1HR30) THIS IS A HARD WORKOUT W/ COACH (I AM TO BOX 4 TIMES WEEK, TWICE WITH COACH TWICE WITHOUT) 7:30 PM - FISH/CHICKEN W BROCOLLI/SPINACH/MIXED VEG 9:00 PM - HANDFUL OF ALMONDS My boxing workout depends on if my coach is there or not. If he's there then its different everytime. We will usually do 15-20 HARD rounds. This is a mixture of shadow boxing with weights, bagwork, mitts and we finish off with situps + pressups and variations on them. If my coach isnt there i'll do: 15 mins run @ 6.5MPH on hill setting lvl 7. 4 continuous rounds skipping. 5 rounds shadow boxing with weights, 3 round without weights. 4 rounds speed bag or double end bag. 3 hard rounds heavy bag. Situps/pressups. Whats the biggest lesson i've learned? self control is essential at all times. set a goal and stick to it no matter what.
Don't just live by the scales they can be misleading. You may have lost just as much fat but gained muscle mass as you are training. Weight loss can be weird, I have had periods where I have trained hard and eaten well and not lost any weight and then had a bad week, not trained as much and eaten some junk and lost weight. In fact happened to me recently I have been out on the **** the last 2 weekends and I have lost 2lbs yet the 3 weeks prior I have trained hard, run more than usual and not drunk at all yet stayed the same weight.
