watch what he tells us. strikeforce is gonna set the mma attendance record.

good interview until he said that, no fight outside ufc can draw a bigger attendance than a ufc card.

Hey, I wished it first! :tong

And, well, if a security guy thinks that the UFC should have given Kimbo 4 fights, then ****! Who are we to argue? Who the hell is Dana White, President of the UFC, to argue?

    What?

Heroes MMA events in Japan and Korea have routinely sold out
major arenas and stadiums, including the 74,000-seat Tokyo Dome. Dynamite! in August of 2002, held at Tokyo National Stadium, drew a record crowd of 92,000 fans.

Also the Dynamite! event at the LA Coliseum reportedly had 42,757 attend.

Maybe if he refined his earlier statement to include, "...in the U.S."

If he says that, then yeah, I'd believe it. And, one might also include everywhere except the places that you describe.

This is why i love UFC fans. Soooo well informed. When the UFC has an attendance record that can equal PRIDE or the K1 give us a shout. The UFC havent even managed half of the numbers in comparison to Japanese events.

Why does he need to say US? MMA existed long before the UFC was a concept and brought to US TV viewers. The UFC isnt the only production in MMA.

One minute didnt Dana say Kimbo had no place in the UFC? He did say that right? And despite his poor peformance on TUF he still signs him to a contract? Was that because he "could" fight or because Kimbo broke TUF viewing records? So first of Dana trashes EliteXC for marketing their promotion off the back of Kimbo. He then trashes Kimbo but then gives him a contract?

Realistic my ****ing ass. Call a spade a spade. Dana is a promoter and Kimbo was a promotional dream. Why would Kimbo turn down an offer from Dana to make a buck when both got to eat ( of course the UFC got the lions share ) when a few years before he was fighting for scraps? Sure Kimbo did the right thing for his pocket but dont get it twisted Dana has zero intergrity in the matter. If he did he wouldnt have signed a "bum" like Kimbo in the first place and stuck to his word. But then again his word means **** all.

You take what promoters say WAY too seriously. I do remember Dana saying for quite some time that Kimbo would ONLY be in the UFC if he went on TUF first. He actually followed his word on that. Not that it would have mattered either way. However, if Dana White only wanted to use Kimbo... why wouldn't he keep him on board? That really doesn't make sense.

I actually think that Dana did show integrity in this case. He didn't just shovel a line of **** to the fans pretending like Kimbo Slice was the best in the world. He didn't do anything like that with him. He put him on the show... and gave him a couple chances in the UFC to impress just like he does with just about every other guy from TUF. Kimbo failed. Simple as that. Of course Kimbo's ability to draw ratings played a huge role in even being there in the first place. What is wrong or surprising about that? Elite XC really was building him up as this huge main event superstar... and the company crumbled as soon as he got knocked out.

I think that it's funny that Strikeforce is more than willing to bring Kimbo on board now... you know... just to help the guy out and do the right thing.:rofl I'm sure it has nothing to do with putting asses in the seat or ratings... nothing like that. Of course it does, and there is no problem in doing it solely for that reason.

So let me get this i take what he says to seriously but the one time that he says Kimbo must come to the UFC via TUF and thats ok because that time he meant it?

Conversely how could Dana justify keeping Kimbo on board? Seriously break that one down for me. Matter of fact explain to me how Kimbo was given a contract when he was a failure on TUF and deemed a failure by Dana prior to joining the UFC? Or was it just unhelpful that EliteXC was in the way and the goalpost changed after they went to the wall? Seriously Widdow you make no sense at all.

Most guys who fail to win TUF are given a chance at the Finale. And, if they happen to win there, then they're given a chance in later shows. Kimbo falls into this category. Just so happens he failed miserably when given his chance in the next show. (His win at the finale wasn't exactly thrilling either)

Okay, now you're just ranting...take his question, or phrase, whichever it was, and modify it with what I suggested and he's right.

Don't go crazy and turn this into something else...

Maybe you missed the sentence right after I said Dana actually followed his word on that one. I said that it wouldn't have mattered either way. Like I said... once again... IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT HE SAYS! You always act surprised when he says something negative about another organization or it's fighters.... then act flabbergasted if he turns around and signs that fighter, ect.... It's called being a promoter. He is promoting his organization and that organizations fighters... and obviously what he is doing is working.

Just to answer your question. Dana could justify keeping Kimbo on board very easily. Call him an inexperienced work in progress who is working his ass off to become a more all around fighter. Simple as that. Just as Dana could have fed the fans a line of promotional bull**** about Kimbo being the next big thing... just like Elite XC did.... just for the ratings until he crashed down again. Guess what... that would have been ok too. I don't think there's anything wrong with the way Elite XC laid on the thick helping of bull**** hype surrounding him either. They were promoting their fighter and I thought they did a good job of it. Unfortunately for them, he fell apart too soon against the wrong opponent.

Because Kimbo was NEVER a real MMA fighter. Just a promotional hype job from a Boxing promoter (Gary Shaw) that ran his MMA organization into the ground, because he actually made a back yard street fighter his poster boy. There was plenty wrong with the way Elite XC handled things... Which is why they folded and don't exist anymore.
