WWW.F*GHTNEWS.COM Weight troubles with Duddy? By Robert Hughes Photos: Robert Hughes A less-than-cheery John Duddy did not like being asked Thursday evening if he was going to win Saturday’s bout with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. “No, I’m here to lose,” Duddy snapped at this reporter in a hotel elevator. “Of course I’m going to win, what kind of question is that?” Meanwhile, Chavez Jr. was in the lobby with dozens of fans and chatting with his father, the great Mexican champion Julio Cesar Chavez, when FightNews asked the fighter the same question. Chavez Jr. responded with a more diplomatic statement about being in shape and being well prepared. And then he said, in his best English: “I think he’s having a problem.” “Like he’s overweight?” asked Fightnews.com. “Yes,” Chavez Jr. said. Duddy was unavailable for a followup comment to the accusation that he was overweight. Chavez Jr- Duddy will battle this Saturday for the vacant WBC Silver middleweight title in the main event on Top Rank’s ‘Latin Fury 15′ card. The pay-per-view event also showcases the living legend Marco Antonio Barrera in a ten-round lightweight fight against hardcore veteran Adailton De Jesus. Several more bouts are scheduled.
true the snappy answer doesnt sound like the normally approachable john maybe hes feeling the pressure of the headline in a ppv card or chavez junior (who lets face it knows all about weight worries and how to overcome them) is right and duddy is struggling this fight is set for 160 isnt it?
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkjdjXgEFmU[/ame] seems like dean might be stayin in england maybe because of his kid??? hope he gets his **** sorted soon
A. that was a shít article. Imagine asking a fighter before a fight like that "are you going to win" - at least take a little time and phase the question a little better. B. Duddy is notoriously a grumpy chunt just before a fight. Cant blame him to be honest. Different people handle it differently. I for one am glad that he is snappy - take that shít out on JCCJ John!
Irish Light Heavyweight Champion John ‘The Warrior’ Waldron has hit out at claims from Michael Sweeney that he is the best light heavyweight in the country. Waldron who claimed the title after a grueling 10 rounds with Jamie Power deserves all the plaudits he has received after his heroic battle in Limerick last month. A spokesman for Dolphil Promotions said ‘The Warrior is currently the number one Light Heavyweight in the country, however upset Sweeney is on hearing this, it’s a fact… has Sweeney even ever made light heavyweight before? I might be wrong but I think the closest he’s come is 179’ He added ‘If The Storm thinks he can breeze onto a show he’s wrong. The Warrior gets to call the shots now he’s champ, right now John in focused on his next fight in Citywest Hotel August 7th with one eye also on an EU title shot down the road’. ‘The Warrior’, when asked what he thought about Sweeney’s comments last week stated: ‘I am the light heavyweight champion; I have never avoided anyone in a fight amateur or professional… and I am definitely not avoiding Michael Sweeney. I am the number one rated light heavyweight in Ireland and when this fight comes off I will still be the number one. Ill do my talking in the ring where it counts. Sweeney says he stopped Power in 3 rounds and I had to go ten. So what, Sweeney stopped him on a cut eye, just remember I also dropped Power twice!’ Dolphil yesterday claimed that this fight will happen, it’s only a matter when. ‘Waldron v Sweeney is a fight the fans want to see, and it’s another test for John on his road to European glory, he’ll beat Sweeney but what a cracking fight it’ll be. The Dolphil Promotions Citywest show sees Prizefighter 2010 Champion ‘Big Bang’ Willie Casey take center stage alongside Irish champions John ‘The Warrior’ Waldron and Anthony The ‘Pride’ Fitzgerald. Another thing is Alot of the public and press here on the west coast don't know who Duddy is and they think he's here as a punch bag, He's just not getting respect he gets on the east coast .
C. ever think a journalist may be fishing for a qoute? eg "im going to break his will and stop him" D. is it normal to respond to a question in alphabet points?
in fairness he has looked like **** for the past couple of years but it will be hilarious if duddy just goes out and walks him down and stop him in about 7:happy would be great to see duddy get a big fight if he wins this
Deano could be the new Dublin project for Peters back from the US I would love to see him and Peters teaming up get a couple of cards back in Dublin with Deano sooner rather than later headlining on his own.
Byrne could be the ideal project for Peters. I don't know how much charisma he has though. Thats a big part of getting the event junkies and day trip merchants on your side. He must have nearly a dozen fights under his belt already, though, so he could be moved along a bit quicker by Peters
i think his carrer would probly be best served stayin in america for the moment but in the future maybe
