well of course i'm strictly boxing, but i like watching other martial arts by themselves, but when you mix it all together it looks like a street fight :-(
but i do wanna learn how to wrestle, like just for fun, my friend from school said he'll show me

i didn't make this thread to debate which sport is better. I still love boxing and have now been converted to mma, i like all martial arts.

but if you have any ideas for my mma specific circuit i am trying to create that would be much appreciated

It only looks like a street fight if you don't know much about the sport. Everything in an MMA match is done for a reason. A street fight is 2 idiots swinging their arms around trying to hit the other guy. These fighters are trained professionals and experts in multiple fighting styles, matches are nothing like street fights.

exactly, how many guys do you see taking and passing guard in street fights, how many guys sprawl in street fights. It may look like a street fight to people who have never trained in the sport, until you realise how much skill is involved in jiu jitsu and using your stand up to avoid take downs, they will never know.

I love the sweet science, but if a mma fighter tried to use a shoulder roll in a mma fight, he would get picked up and slammed on his head. So even the way you box in mma fight is different to the way you would box in a boxing match.

i appreciate both sports for what they are, and they both require lots of skill to be succesful. Completely different sports.

Yea, 185lbs and weren't some of them doing that in the final round?

    Those complexes are amazingly tough...

how do you explain when someone is already unconscious and they just keep kneeing them in the head?

that is what happens in a street fight, it may rarely happen in a mma fight due to a bad ref, but its the same thing when a referee lets a boxer continue when the fight should be stopped after a count, then the boxer gets KTFO, its a fight and there are risks involved, anyone who doesn't realise this shouldn't be fighting.

i hate watching mma however i can appreciate it is an extremely tough sport in every respect and anyone who wont try a training method because its in a sport they dont like ( mostly on principle of just not liking it cos its not boxing) is well ignorant! Try it! Use what is useful to you disregard what isnt but you wont know that until you try it! Good post i like the vids given me some ideas! :D

yeh i agree..i just feel mma has a different attitude to boxing in the sense people are trying to kill eachother whereas in boxing they usually hug at the end and respect eachother after a good fight.

i havent really seen much mma so if im wrong about this dont worry lol

MMA is exactly the same as boxing in regard to attitude. There's always gonna be the ***** that can't take a loss or acts like a dick when he wins (Brock Lesnar vs Mir, good example). There are also matches where there's a lot of respect shown. Cro Cop's latest fight vs Pat Barry, lots of respect between the 2. They actually stopped mid-fight to shake each other's hands after an exchange of punches.

this is one thing that actually surprised me when i started training mma, i go to different gyms for muay thai and bjj, i find in training these 2 martial arts there is more of a sense of respect in a dojo sense. My bjj sensei said to me on the 1st day there is no egos in this dojo everyone is equal.

i find in a boxing gym it is different, there is more egos around the gym. I find martial arts have more sence of respect between students and sensei. Just my opinion
