Duran of '89 at 156 pounds is too much for Jackson that year...... Jackson looks tuff early, but then gets frustrated and begins to fall apart..... Duran mugs Jackson late....

Duran's chin and savvy was much better than what Terry Norris had to offer in 1989...

Even as a monster Duran fan, I cannot rule out the very real possibility that Jackson could put the lights out with one deadly shot.

 

The Duran that fought Hagler tough and kod Moore would beat Jackson he was still a great fighter at that time and i think he would take Jackson into deep waters and drown him Jackson was a super great puncher but just a very good fighter not quite on Durans level even at JM,MW of the early 80s. The 89 version who fought at Mw,and id lean towards Jackson. Durans win over Barkley was great but he was clearly a step behind the70s and early 80s version. IMO Jackson was one of the greatest punchers ive ever seen, but here goes everybody again just assuming Jackson is gonna bomb Duran out. Duran was still pretty slick in the early 80s and had a great Chin. What happen against Hearns never happened before or since, make no mistake Duran had a great Chin even at the higher weights.

The problem with you and your predictions is even you consider yourself a Toney fan , you picked Bob Foster to stop Toney. It would not have happened at any weight.

 

Bob Foster has the ability to stop anyone who has ever fought at or around 175lbs. The problem with you seems to be that you haven't seen much of Bob Foster.

Yes, there would be an element of real, sudden death danger that Duran would be facing vs Jackson that wasn't there with Barrkley, Moore and even Hagler. Jackson could have done the same to him that Hearns did. The fight could turn on a dime even after Duran had several rounds in the book where he outhusled and outboxed Jackson.

 

Yawn. I didn't say Bob Foster knocked out everyone he ever faced at lightheavy, did I? I said he had the ability to stop anyone at that weight, and on any given night he could do so. No fighter ever knocked out every single opponent he ever faced, but guys like Julian Jackson and Bob Foster had the potential to do so, if they fought everyone numerous times, they would get a stoppage win on the law of averages at some point, because of their power.

 

Foster is a brutal puncher but I don't rate him that highly as a fighter and don't rate his comp. I also don't think his power is going to KO an ATG chin and ATG defense of Toney.

If Toney is at his best at 175, a big if at 175, Foster would be a good match up for him, largely because Foster despite his rangyness fights small. I'll get stick for that but Foster hasn't fought anyone of Toney's class at 175
