I know what you mean, but let's face it...unless your A plan isn't spot on, it's not going to help you to have a plan B against JC, because the latter will always be able to pull up plan C or D - whatever it takes to win...

I feel Mikkel's A plan wasn't good enough in the first place...he thought he could bomb Calzaghe out by hitting him with 1-2s to the head...I would have prepared for more body shots and for more punches in general...

Wow it is amazing Calzaghe landed 28% of his punches when throwing so many against someone like Kessler. That stat is simply awesome.

It's probably his management, but the effect is still the same - to raise questions about whether Calzaghe would have won, or won as convincingly, had this "hand injury" not allegedly been an issue.

It's all about creating interest in a rematch, that's all. If it happens anytime soon, the result will be exactly the same, hand injury or no hand injury.

If it happens before Joe becomes considerably slower I agree...but in 2009 I would have to favour Mikkel.

It could very well be, however , it seems to be an issue in DK only, so maybe not.

What about Joes hands? They probably hurt like Hell. He's won with broken mitts over the years. This fight is done, doubt there will ever be a rematch. Joe's on the (hopefully slow) downward slope of his career and MK has several prime years before him.

You are not wrong...but why do you assume Kessler is making an excuse...?

Let us assume that the stories about Kessler's hand being indeed hurt were true. Why would Kessler deny them? Becuase he didn't want to let down his fans, give himself an excuse before the fight, cancel the fight, after he has called Joe out for so long, and because he didn't want Joe to think he had one up on him!

Kessler said he wasn't at his very best that night. Fair enough! I believe him. But it would be pointless trying to make an exuse for the loss - had he been at his very best he would not have beaten Joe that night...it would have been closer, but Joe would still have won...Kessler didn't make any excuses after the fight. However, the Danish media/his management might want to start these stories in order to make the Danes feel better. But I am 100% sure that this story isn't used by Mikkel as an excuse for the loss. It just wouldn't make sense and would be out of character. Therefore, comments such as The Viking Excuse Maker are inappropriate, I feel. :good

If Calzaghe had stuck to his boxing he would of totally schooled Kessler. But as he always seems to do Calzaghe gets into a tearup. The only reason it looked like Kessler had a chance.

Why would Calzaghe ever want to go to Copenhagen? As the ring champ he gave Kessler his chance and he won by a good margin. It was competitive but it was not close. A rematch makes no sense for Joe and will never happen.
