Mir looked in good shape and had his old style of brute strength and smooth technique (big man jiu-jitsu as he calls it) in his last fight. I have no reason to believe that Lesnar is better at defending a guy like Franks subs than Hardonk was, and I know he isn't the same league of striking as Hardonk.

I firmly believe that unless Mir goes on an in n out burger binge he will sub Brock.

It is very very possible that Mir can catch him but I really wonder if Brock can pull out of just about anything .... if Mir tries to armbar Lesnar he will get picked up off the mat and Rampaged hard.

Mir should try and catch a ankle lock or toe. That would be funny seeing Brock get subbed by the toe.

Small joint manipulation isn't allowed in the UFC (or any other MMA organization)

he means wrist locks, finger and toe manipulations as well, basically what people do in aikido, and technically foot locks etc. are actually putting pressure on the ligaments in the ankle, which is allowed because of its great natural flexibility or moves like the heel hook actually end up ripping out your knee

A "toehold" is an ankle lock, its allowed, and Mir is good at it.

let's not forget Brock has been wrestling his whole life.....that's worth something....he undoubtedly has more wrestling experience than Mir has jj experience and he is the far superior athlete overall

Oh yeah no doubt but you gotta look at this. This isnt exactly Mirs vs rodeo u feel ? Hes been fighting on big shows in Vegas for years he even held the UFC Championship he never lost it. Brock as far as MMA fighter is to me still a noboddy he hasnt accomplished anything. A 90 secound fight vs some Japcan on the most embarrsing PPV show ive ever witnessed doesnt impress me. If he gets caught in a Mir armbar and smashes it and him soon after ill be impressed.

I've thought from the outset that this is a 50/50 pick. Mir is definitely NOT past his prime. I'm looking forward to this fight.

ok so maybe not as physically imposing and cvertainly not one of the most athletic fighters ever in the ufc...tank abbot.....mir subbed him.....and he had the strength of a bull....strength isnt the be all and end all...(hell i hate saying that...)..but its true.....if mir is in shape, he will give lesnar fits and take him out..unless lesnar hits him with one of those fold up chairs so favoured by the wwe..
