1 Punch, uppercut which part of was blocked turned Brock Lesnar in to a Cheep. Then he was all over the place with legs of jelly. Guy is vulnerable as it gets for such a big guy and obviously he cant really protect him self despite having that turtle shell with his hands. Had Carwin be half of a decent guy with stamina he had knocked out Brock. That's all folks.
Brocks already has two defences under his belt against stellar competition. His next fight is a good match up. Cain has the skills and stamina but lacks the size, strength and power of Carwin. His legs didn't turn to jelly despite being clocked by a haymaker uppercut. He was hurt but he didn't do the harlem shake like Evans or Judah.
im still not sold on his chin the uppercut barley caught him it just scraped by but he's defo won me over a bit after showing he's got some heart! i dont think hed do well with a good technical striker like reem if he can stop a td or get up from his bak which i think he can!
For what it's worth, Brock has never taken a nasty shot from someone his own size. Ever. So even though he crumpled and landed against the cage, I think it had something to do with the shock of "wow..that's what it's like when someone hits you" and him pulling away almost immediately after he threw his own shot, taking him off balance. He showed that he could take it and was capable of blocking while Shane gassed himself out trying to finish off Brock. He even took a nasty elbow to the face to boot and still fought out of it. I think it says a bit about his chin since Shane is a monster and took almost everyone he's fought off their feet and asleep with his shots.
I am not happy with Brocks chin if you ask me Carwin only threw those useless nondamaging arm punches in the g'n'p' because refs useually stop it even if they aren't landing. Anyone else the ref would have stopped it. Which for the record I don't agree with. Thats the problem with some fighters now-a-days instead of picking there shots and making them count they look like middleschool girls and just go wild hoping the ref stops it.
I don't believe for a second that flailing away is advocated by MMA trainers to influence the ref into calling it. I'm sure it happens with recent examples of early stops but Shane was going for volume and thinking something was going to get through.
Who said they trained to do that? Its a reaction to the way fights have been reffed in the past. WHY would you train to do that? If you trained ground and pound and you had a level head and didn't get excited like Fedor you'd land bigger better shots. Fedor fell into the same trap versus Werdum, in the past Fedor was too cool for that and didn't rely on his punches to stop a fight. In Japan he would pick his shots and badly hurt is opponents then sink in a sub. Fedor got catch up in the hype of the KO.
it's not too hard to get out of an arm triangle, everyone who faces brock will figure out his 3 probable finishers. his stand up is not too good, and I am not sure about his chin... but fair play he is doing well with what hes got.
What exactly is going to stop him if a good shot from the biggest puncher in the division, followed by 4 min off ass beating isn't? He took hell for a full round, got up before the round was over, told his corner he was fine, went out and dominated. He also showed he is confident in his subs. He isn't a submission master yet, but that was textbook; it is my favorite set up to my favorite choke.
This is so cliche. "Oh it's an easy sub to get out of" All subs are easy to get out, and all escapes have counters, and all of those have counter-counters. Everything is easy if you do it perfectly, the problem is that other human being also doing everything perfectly. An absolute monster of a man applying a tight arm triangle is not anything close to easy to escape from. Armbars are easy to escape from, but not from Roger Gracie. Punches are easy to not get hit with, takedowns are easy to stop, everything is easy, right?
