I watched Matthew Hatton in his 8 or 9th fight and saw the talent right there. It was like a god given gift. And now, here he is, on the verge of greatness.

well impressed with him right there and then.

always looked out for him after that and was well pleased when he fulfilled his potential in the unpaid ranks.

been impressed so far in the pro's as well. :good

 

david haye.

his pro debut tbh.

one of the most obvious world class talents i've seen from these shores.

Yep, I agree with Hatton-Thaxton. He got cut early, had to adjust and did it very well.

 

Naseem Hamed early on in maybe his 5th fight or something on Eurosport, the kid had everything from speed and power to entertainment and cheek. He stopped his opponent and then continued doing flips etc in his corner. I knew he was something special!!!

With regard to DeGale though, he overachieved in the unpaid ranks if you ask me..

I remember watching a young Naseem Hamed completely toy with Belcastro to win the European. I had never seen anything close. It was so exciting to see that - like you just had no idea just how 'great' he would become because his talent was off all the charts you could even comprehend.

 

Watching Lennox Lewis's pro debut, when he already seemed to have more than Frank Bruno.

Colin McMillan early on (forget against who). What a pity he didn't quite hit the heights.

 

McMillans shoulders were Knackered, He had 3 operations but never a success any of them.

 

After seeing both Froch and Haye as Amateurs was pretty convinced that they were both gonna be champions. Seem to remember I was particuly impressed by Froch who appeared to conquer some aweful nerves during the fight (a trait I think he still shows).

 

Spot on. Although I still think he'll come good.

Tbf the trio of him, De Gale and Gavin have really caught my eye.

 

He needs to up the training.
