Yes, bottom line: '86-'88 Tyson can elude Tua's punches with his patented head movement and footwork but Tua does not have the footwork or defense to avoid getting hit by Kid Dynamite and anyone who gets hit repeatdely by a prime Tyson goes to sleep...
Tyson is only this mythical elusive unstoppable speed machine for the early rounds, Tua is at least as rugged as the guys who went the distance with prime Tyson and he has a better engine and good speed at close range We all know Tyson is better against tall opponents and is a more accomplished boxer, but Tua doesnt need to go looking far for Tyson and when he can set his feet he is lethal against anyone, when he doesnt have to lunge he has fast hands. Tua would be able to set his feet and swing for the fences, Tyson would make him miss a fair bit and so would Tua, his defence in close was pretty good, check out fights where he was in toe2toe battles, IMO he could also shoulder Tyson off him when he needed to, like he did with many bigger guys Tua's not some chinny jabbing Jose Ribalta or Tyrell Biggs, Tyson went to the trenches with Ruddock and Tua is better than him in my opinion. I could honestly see it being a 12 round fight, highly unlikley to be an early stoppage either way IMO
I agre entirely with you here, expect for this comment - "but has Tua taken extensive punishment from a highly regarded puncher? Not totally sure" he 100% has in the fight with Ike, who could punch like a mule and in the fight that broked the HW records for punches thrown, Ike threw more then tua. Anyways it would have been a war beyond anything ever seen in the HW division. For both guys they finally get flush leverage as they are both short asses. For me as big a Tua fan s I am I can; see Tua winning it, UD to Tyson.
If we're talking young Tyson that bobbed and weaved on his way in and had dynamite in his hands, vs a prime Tua (really?).... no question who wins. If we're talking about 45 year old Mike who does his training in front of a crowd in Vegas as a sideshow... hell, I'd still bet on Mike to beat a prime Tua hahah.
Exactly, this would be a Tyson fight unlike any other, there is no comparison to where he hunted down tall jabbing 1-2 punchers, many of Tyson's attributes are nullified in a toe2toe war. If Tyson could move and fire straight punches like he did in Ruddock I, he would give Tua big problems, but he never could for more than 3 or 4 rounds, especially when in with Tua who is as lethal as anyone if you get into very short range.
Prime Tyson beats Prime Tua in controlling fashion. Prime Tyson actually used a very good jab. Tua could never solve a jab. Besides Tyson was much quicker and had better movement.
You're joking. You're comparing the fluke KO of one of the least respected HWs of the modern era, and two come from behind KOs over forgettable HWs to Tyson. Yeah, Tyson's resume isn't quite Ali's either, HE WAS IN ****ING JAIL FOR 3 YEARS OF HIS PRIME! An over the hill Tyson beat the **** out of Golota, who is a far better fighter than anyone Tua has KOed. He KOed Frank Bruno, as good as anyone you mentioned. Tubbs, Berbick, Ruddock...ect. And more importantly, his only loses (discounting the ones where he was shot to pieces and fighting for cash) came to ATGs. The one exception was a very motivated fighter, who had greatness in him (Douglas) but was never great again. Tua was outboxed by Byrd, beaten by Ibeabuchi, boxed to a draw by Rahman, and then shut out by the only ATG he ever fought. It takes a great fighter to beat a prime Tyson. Lewis was a great fighter. Holyfield was a great fighter. Douglas had the skills and athleticism, and on that night he had the motivation to be a great fighter. Tua is a limited slugger with seemingly limitless power. He wouldn't make it out of 12 with a prime, motivated Tyson.
my fear for mike in this one is that he's too small.. but a prime tyson wasn't too small. prime tua aint no slouch either.. i think anybody who knows anything would have a very hard time picking a winner. if they can scream a name right off the bat they don't know what they're talking about in my opinion.
Tyson definitely isn't too small for Tua. In their primes they are the same height, Tua might weigh about 5 more pounds, and Tyson has an inch longer reach.
people gettin all up tight on everyones opinions. Both in their primes could be hard to seperate who would win, my heart says tua, common-sense might say tyson. You don't decide who would win based on the quality/caliber of fighters they fought, all that matters is on the day. Even though Im a big Tua-fan, best bets on a Tyson UD by a few rounds maybe even more, based on the fact tyson punches more in quantity than tua & that speed & agility could trouble tua, don't count tua out though, one shot is all it takes & tua will take all of tysons bombs I dont care how hard he punches, you aint knocking him down or out. & people dont hate on my opinion, Im tellin it like it is..
