Although there are many exciting fights/fighters, and with the impending retirement of pacman and mayweather, boxing super stars are running out. I think boxing needs a face at all times, that's when it has prospered the most, I wonder who would be the next one to carry the flame?

Does anybody think that a cable network devoted to A-level fighters from the lighter weight classes could prosper? We all know that a lazy, unmotivated tub of goo like Areola should not have name recognition or 6 figure paydays when REAL boxers who sweat it out in the gym and pay their dues whether they are from Indonesia, Thailand, Uzbekistan or BumF***k Egypt... these guys can't even support their family, quit their day job or get any recognition whatsoever. It's ate the f**k up and we all know it. You can't blame the mainstream press, average joe for losing interest in boxing sometimes. Boxing is in need of some serious makeover. Somebody with some brains, cajones and $ needs to take boxing into the next era. The talent IS out there!

Never one to shy away from controversy, Kostello weighed in on the Mayweather-Pacquiao doping issue.

It is unknown whether Kostello was referring here to Malignaggi and Pacquiao or another "Paulie and Manny".

This "Pac Man" presumably does refer to Pacquiao, and not the pellet chomping yellow head.

This is, unfortunately, a dead link. What wonders Kostello could have gifted our sight with, we can only surmise.

I agree. Other then the super 6, you dont get to see the new stars enough doing big fight at a regular bases. There are a lot of big fights happeneing at the lower weight that HBO never shows. Stars above 126 are getting fights that they know there gonna win. I miss the old style of boxing where they put everybody together and see what stars come out. Now its all about force feeding us stars.

 

I don't think he meant Marquez and Diaz are B level talent wise, but B level star wise. Which I think is true, both are the B side to ppv attractions, they aren't ppv material by themselves. I don't see how anyone can deny boxing is short on marquee names right now, particularily in America. Even in Britain who can really be considered a star? Khan, Haye, Froch maybe, nobody else unless Hatton comes back. We desperately need some new people to catch on, even Paquaio and Mayweather are both very close to retirement and it took years for them to catch fire as attractions. You can have all the talented guys in the world, if there's no star names that the average person knows the sport will shrivel up further.

Such a pity that Valero left us. He was destined for glory and was just the type of fighter the masses go absolutely crazy for. The sport of boxing just doesn't seem the same to me since he died.


If there were 7 or 8 more Valeros and Pacquiaos in boxing, the sport would be mainstream. The average fan wants bloody, exciting back and forth brawls at the highest level of the sport, not cautious chessmatches. There's been very few of this type of fight as of late.
