Baby Bull Diaz Resume - BS or great?! Hype job or not?!

He's lost his way, simple as that. I believe that it's not a matter of physical reasons, more along the lines of lost desire.

He may not have a great resume, but he is a great fighter none-the-less.

I guess I name great fighters as those who sacrificed their whole lives to the sport, and made it to as far as he did. Put it this way, this kid has been on HBO, has a law degree, worked his way up the ranks to become a world class fighter. Who are you?

He's still young and he can still rebound, but something in me thinks he won't. However it's not out of the realm of possibility...

 

Acelino Freitas is a class fighter...just a terrible habit of quitting.

Yeah I've thought that too. Real natural aggressive style, can't picture him as an amateur.

To answer the thread question, definitely not a hype-job for me. I think he's still learning. With a bit more ring wisdom I think he'll do some great things.

 

Diaz gets slandered a lot around here more than he gets overhyped. Dude unified lightweight in his early 20's and like someone said above no one's going around posting threads like "Diaz TKO Benny Leonard". Solid fighter who was in the right spot at the right time to unify and did it. Diaz deserves his props.

 

He fought B- Class champions like kidd diaz, Freitas, Katsidis, malignaggi.

 

Diaz was far from a hype job. He won many titles and gave JMM a hell of a fight and has a solid resume. His problem is his lack of power and his struggle to make 135. If he could fight at 130 or 135 he would be much better off.

 

As said before, the guy unified the lightweight championship of the world at a ridiculously young age. Freitas was a very, very good fighter and Katsidis may become a world titlist soon. The guy has accomplished a lot.

Was he a great fighter like DLH, Leonard, Duran...NO...But he accomplished as much if not more than other fighters who get overrated like Hatton, Tszyu, Paul Williams..etc...

 

How is Diaz a hype job? He's willing to fight anyone , doesn't talk ****, and puts up a scrap every time. There is no pretension of greatness, he just comes to fight. He doesn't have the resume of a Paq or Floyd , but he's still young and establishing himself.Maybe you could say he's been a disappointment, or he hasn't lived up to expectations, but hype job isn't the word.
A hype job is someone more along the lines of a Tye Fields. Nothing behind the numbers.Diaz has already proved he's world class.

 

hes a good fighter. Only lost to a great fighet in JMM and Pauli is stylisticaly a bad matchup. I would love to watch Juan Diaz Vs Soto that would be great.

 

He's gone from overrated to underrated the night Malignaggi beat him.

 

Not hype job, just lost to some good fighters.
