There is no way it is an Eliminator for the EBU,
Willie Casey is not ranked in the EBU ratings,
He is ranked for the EU though.

I think this is just a stunt to sell more tickets....

Barker v Belgchem were the two chosen to fight for the vacated 160 EBU. It's not as if the organization enforce what is right. If Peters wants it to be an eliminator, I'm sure the EBU won't stand in the way

Anyone know how many rounds this is scheduled for? I'm guessing 8 but hoping it's 10.

The EBU don't actually do eliminators anymore.
A win over Salvini would almost certainly put Casey into the full European rankings, and possibly push Salvini out. So in some sense you could deem it an eliminator, but not in any official capacity.

 

they said he gets Kiko or the lad he is fighting if he wins! thats the EBU. The italain he is fighting is ranked 9 in the EBU. Peters said last week that he would offer a shot to Casey or Paulie?? so it is possible

 

Its a bit premature id say,Casey has done well but remember three of his fight were in prizefighter,
Personnally i dont think these should go on your pro record as they are only 3x3s.
That way of thinking he has only 6 pro fights so fight the best in Ireland (hyland)first then keep moving on.
I know he is 29 but no need to rush him into a big shot just yet.
He probably needs a few tough learning fights first before fighting the likes of Martinez.

 

yes willie is ranked at 16th and if he beats this lad he will be up in the top 10 with another local fighter who has never taken a 50/50 fight not to mind 60/40,so if willies career is going fast maybe that is because hes good enough /tough enough has agud team behind him and believe that to get up he has to take chances.jesus lads isnt dat why we luv the game to see the best vs the upcuming best fair play to willie /get behind him lads.he deserves backing.

I'm pretty sure it's not that they are not backing Casey, it's just they think it may be a too much too soon is all. I've no doubt everyone in here will be rooting for him if/when he fights for the title.
