I choose Hearns. He would be more the Motor City Cobra than the Hitman in this though. I can see him outboxing Chavez over the distance.
Total mismatch...Tommy started out as a welterweight, and Chavez' ceiling weight was 140, and was never great at 147...Hearns by TKO inside 5 rounds tops.

I know theres only one outcome but, devils advocate here... Hearns has a shaky chin, Chavez has a rock solid ATG chin. Hearns is weak on the inside, Chvez has ATG stalker/infighting skills.(The specific blueprint Hagler made?) Im just saying, bro. Im just ****ing saying.
great points man, im a big fan of the hitman but to say he walks through chavez is a bit of a stretch. chavez is hands down one of the best pressure fighters of all time, add that to his punishing body attack and you got a headache for hearns. but can chavez surpass that piston like left jab and that heat seeking missle of a right hand? hearns has seen the likes of a chavez (duran), but chavez has never seen anything like hearns. great matchup in my opinion. but ill take hearns in a tough UD taking some punishment in the process.
It's not a matter of if Hearns can land that right hand but when. Needless to say, Hearns definitely inside the distance. Fellow countryman Pipino will then be forever muttering in Spanish, "I told you so..."
I don't usually comment on these style of matchups where we're taking fighters from other weight classes, but since Chavez did fight at welter a couple of times, I'll bite. To begin, I was never a fan of Hearns and always liked Chavez, but this style and size is as wrong for Chavez as it was for Cuevas and Duran. Scartissue
