Kessler did'nt loose at all

I think the buzz about Kessler is over. He is good, but not as good as eveyone said. Frankly, I think he's been exposed and won't get the notoriety he enjoyed with the ZAG fight hype.

 

Well, people said he was the second best...and he still is...he is by quite a bit better than the rest...

 

Joe is a great fighter. Kessler fought a very compeditive fight with him and lost. That nothing to be ashamed of.

 

In two years he'll be known only as "That German Dude"

He got dominated, and that's from a guy that expected him to win. Calzaghe just owned on him. I expected Calzaghe to get exposed, but Kessler clearly was.

 

I dont know how you can say that. Just looking at the score cards, 116 112 is not a 'domination' by any means. Calzaghe got on top in rounds 9-11, before that the fight was always in the ballance, both in terms of scoring and KO's. In fact if it wasnt for Calzaghes inhumanly granite chin, the fight could have been over half way through. I doubt many boxers could have taken the bombs that that Kessler landed on him and remained conscious, let alone standing. That was the difference. Calzaghe did and thats why he's the champ. There was no domination. It was a fight between two great fighters in which the better guy won. Niether boxers or their respective fans should be dissapointed.

 

Bull****, Kessler won 2 rounds at most.

The only round I could cleanly give him was Round 4. And he probably would have been knocked down in round 8 if it werent for that dumbass referee. He got given a boxing lesson.

Having said that, I was impressed with Kessler as a person, the way he handled himself etc...im now a fan and think he can do well once Calzaghe's gone.

 

Really. So dispite the fact that the Judges at cardiff stadium scored the fight 116 - 112, you in your infinte wisdom assert that Kessler only one or two rounds?

Kessler will be a better fighter for it. He was head hunting throughout and had he gone for the body, it might have been a different result. Kessler is an excellent fighter but Calzaghe was too clever for him.

 

Kessler lost to a better mann that day - fit and nothing to question...

But as Eubank says - I real champ needs to loose to get better - to grow bigger, wiser and stronger. I hope MK has the mentally strenght to do that.

Kessler is still my nr. 1 favorite in SMW - but I must really admit that JC is my number 2 now. JC deserves all the luck in the future to get a good career ending. I just hope he gets to meet the absolute bests - Hopkins, Kelly, Dawson, etc.. I think JC should only show interest in Froch, inkin and bute if anyone of them beats Kessler. I don't think the will.

 

atsch There is only one boxer who have won more rounds against Calzaghe than Kessler did, how does that make Kessler exposed? Or are you one of those people who think that when a boxer has lost a fight, then he is automatically exposed?:roll:

 

No no no . I have seen interviews with him on danish television. He does not seem devestated at all. Not at all.
Look at the post fight interviews on HBO also. Even there, right after the fight, he didnt seem that down.

It is not at all like with lacy who was really taken back mentally.

And there is a really good reason for that.

He was not at all beaten like lacy. He did loose the fight but not by as much as the 3 judges had it. And certainly not as much as the HBO guy. Lederman ?

I have watched the fight two times now and I only get it 2 points to Calzaghe.
I watched it with no sound. It actually makes quite a difference as to how you perceive the fight. Every time Calzaghe blinked an eye the crowd went wild. And Lederman and at least the judge that had it 117-111 went wild with them.

And if you judged by heavy punched landed, which I am not saying that you should but if you did, Kessler would win.

And dont be confused about Kesslers swollen eye. Calzaghe is a dirty fighter as opposed to Kessler. Maybe it was some of Calzaghes open hand punches that ripped up on that eye.
Also Calzaghe was using his open hand hitting/slapping technique to get to the backside of MIkkels head.
So if Kessler will come back is an open question. But if he doesnt it is not because he is mentally devastated from this fight.

The interviews that I saw I got the impression that he was like scratching his head as if he was trying to find a reason as to why he lost this chess game. Wich he believed that he would win, despite having studiet Joes treatment of Lacy and others.
He was not at all shaken. It was not like he was knocked out by MIke Tyson.
