I disagree bruh. Floyd doesn't need either. He has already proved himself. If Mosely was so past his prime, how did he manage do absolutely DESTROY Margarito? Mosely wasn't THAT far past it. If he would stop trying to do that POWERBOX bull**** and went back to using his jab like he did at 130 Mosely would be a killer TO THIS DAY. He certainly wasn't at his absolute best, no doubt, but he is still a major threat; and would beat most of the other 147 pounders out there. Floyd sure as hell doesn't need to fight Martinez. He isn't even in Floyd's weight class. Floyd has already achieved enough. If he wants to fight Pac or Martinez, then more power to him. However, he needs neither one of them. The bottom line: people will never be satisfied with Floyd no matter who he beats.
I wanted to see him fight Shane more than Manny, but the problem is, whether Floyd fans want to hear it or not, but Shane was not the same Shane that beat Margo. He had been sitting on the bench for over a year, due to his fight with Berto falling through. I didn't know if it would be as one sided as it was, but I never thought Shane would actually beat Floyd. The one time I thought maybe it would happen was when Oscar fought him, but that was me going on emotion rather than brains. Frankly I don't know if Manny beats him, but for once this isn't a foregone conclusion to anyone aside from die hard fans of either fighter.
In my honest opinion, I definitely think race is a factor. The bottom line, and this is my personal opinion, is that you will never see a fighter of any other race who can duplicate the style of Black American Fighters. When a black fighter is good, they are DAMN GOOD. You will never see a white, Asian, Mexican, or whatever fighter who will have a style like Floyd Jr., Bernard Hopkins, and especially Roy Jones. I think that's what causes the hatred. In my opinion, Black American Fighters, when they are at their best, have the perfect blend of offense and defense. You notice I said Black American right? Becaue African don't count; in my honest opinion. They fight sloppy and awkward; and they don't have the same slickness that black fighters do. And it is definitely STILL an issue on these American shores; I don't care what anybody says. People hate to see a confident black man who can't be CONTROLLED. Nobody likes to see it. To me, that's what Floyd embodies. A rich black man who can't be controlled or made to have his head hung low. They did Roy Jones the same damn way, until he got his ass beat. Now, everybody is satisfied. They want to see the same thing happen to Floyd. They want to see Floyd lose his confidence and stop believing in himself. That's what I firmly believe.
i do agree no matter what he does he will never get the full credit he deserves. thats about it though...cus Cal gets his ass handed to him any day of the week by prime RJJ.....:deal
It's a damn shame that in 2010 people still feel this way. It's a perfect example of why we'll never get past the race issue, because so many people want to blame their problems on race. Don't get me wrong, there's a **** load of racism in this country and it's messed up. People are getting the raw end of the stick because some ignorant *******s feel that one race is inferior to another for some damn reason. But there's also people who trade on that ****. People like Floyd who wholly embraces the "please hate me" attitude. He WANTS to be the bad guy. he WANTS everyone to despise him, so they will in theory pay their money because they hate him so much they want him to get knocked the hell out. HE WANTS THIS!!!! That's why he's all flashy, and rude and disrespectful and arrogant, and throws his money around. He's a glorified WWF wrestler. And there's nothing wrong with that, if that's what you want. But don't embrace that character and then cry racism when people don't give you the respect you feel you deserve. That's bull**** and that's ignorant. And it demeans the true victims of racism in this country and the world. Ignorant pampered mother****ers like Floyd who has everything in the world, and still ain't happy. Someone comes along and gets some accolades, and he has to destroy them by any means necessary because he can't stand not being considered better. Has ZERO to do with race, and has EVERYTHING to do with him being an *******. and the fact that he plays the race card, and his fans do as well, is disgusting. Are there people out there who hate him because he's black and rich? I'm sure there are, but they're a minority (ironic, no?) in this equation. The VAST MAJORITY of fans out there despise him for his disrespect shown other fighters, for his violence against women (by him and his family), for the flat out disrespect and ignorance his father and uncles show time and time again against anyone that may be perceived to be equal to or better than Floyd. Get the **** outta here with that race bull****.
I think darkonesun makes some valid points. Whether people want to admit it or not race, nationality, ethnicity are inextricably bound to boxing. From Jack Johnson, to Joe Louis, to Ali, to Gerry Cooney and Larry Holmes, the elements of race, nationality and ethnicity have always affected public interest. People do love to hate flashy figures who talk-the-talk-and-walk-the-walk. Especially, when they do those things to the extreme. Jack Johnson, Ali, RJJ, and Floyd are prime examples of that. Does race play a part in the public's perception of them? YES. To deny that, is just plain ignorant, considering the history of the US. RACE MATTERS...period.
I think u need to stfu with ur wall of txt... Get floyds balls out of ur mouth and return to work at ur KFC!
@timeout - Why's he have to go back to work at KFC, of all places? I think you need to STFU, because, all you are doing is proving his point. And only a few people on here could reply intelligently to what he posted. The rest of these ****ing clowns are just saying dumb ****, like you.
And who called Floyd a coward on ESPN? Yeah, that's right. Another black man. Your race-baiting just simply...fails.
Like I said above... And who called Floyd a coward on ESPN? Yeah, that's right. Another black man. Your race-baiting just simply...fails.
