Green v Briggs - There's Got To Be More To It

Good post - have wondered the same things.

Believe Briggs sparred 10 rounds with Peter Metrevski the other day - surely amongst that he would've worn a few?


The reputations of many people fall into question after this fiasco:

1/ If it truly was a medical issue there's a list of culprits - starting with the organisation, the doctors, the trainers, himself and probably others.

2/ If it's a dive/gambling scenario - logically it's a different list of people to blame.


One thing's for certain. There's no winner in this whichever way it pans out.

 

The MRI might show everything is structually sound. IT wouldnt show how much pressure things could take before collapsing.

 

How good does the NSW Boxing Authority look now.:deal

These sorts of reasons is why we need a national commission, some of these state commissions need to wake up to themselves & have a cold hard look in the mirror.

 

I have to admit every one of those thoughts passed through my head last night.

i just want to believe there is more to it

 

NSW BA certainly come out smelling like roses, and plainly, Green can forget any legal action he might have planned against anybody.

 

He dived, there's nothing else to it.

 

iu believe there is more too it, & also wondered about the threat to his kids etc, & he didnt look well when he was on the ground, at the same time, i feel for danny but serves him right for fighting a retired fighter, this has made him look bad as well as exposing the "agreed weight" crap but still fighting for the cruiser title.

 

I think there is more too it and people should wait for

1. Any medical info to be released
2. Briggs to release a statement

before people write him off as "diving" or throwing the fight...

I find it hard to believe that he would throw a fight, let alone throw it in that fashion.

As there was a betting plunge, maybe someone knew he wasnt well, and it would only take one small punch...

If thats the case omeone other than Briggs must have known that it wasn’t going to go well and should have stopped it from going ahead.

It wouldn’t surprise me that even if Paul was the only one to know he wasnt well, he would still go ahead with the fight…


With me, it comes down to not believing Briggs would take a dive...

When all is said and done nobody bar Briggs will ever know the real truth about what went down last night and I fear that the damage to boxing in this country is irreparable. Between this and the Mundine circus, what next?

 

When will we get to hear from Briggs?

 

Knowing the type of fighter Paul was i just cant imagine him taking a dive it just makes no sence,i would love to hear what he has to say about it all so until that happens i for one aint jumping to conclusions just yet

 

Everybody knows what type of fighter Paul was Grazz, and you're right people are jumping to all sorts of conclusions.

Unfortunately though I can't think of one single possibility where he comes out looking any good here.

His 'best' scenario is probably the 'he got KOed in training only a few days ago' rumour, and that the first tap following that KO just completely disoriented him. Obviously, if that is the case he should have pulled, or been pulled out. Perhaps he though if that happened he'd never get another go at the loot?

Even if all that does prove correct, word sure got out, because the bookies phones nearly melted.
