watched the mosley/cotto fight AGAIN

Shane was on his bike for the 5th and 6th, I totally agree. I originally gave him the 5th, but I can definitely see Cotto taking that round.

Cotto was tired, as you said. And he was hurt in the 9th and buzzed in the 10th. That is 'effective aggression.' The only round I could see for Cotto is the 11th, and that would be because he 'stole' it with the big left hook near the bell. I had Shane winning that round, but I could see a judge seeing that punch and giving it to Cotto even though Shane walked him down the whole round.

If I give Cotto the 5th and the 11th, it's a draw on my card. No way did Cotto win. And I can't give him the 11th, either.

 

I like your card, although I had Cotto winning. There is NO DOUBT that Cotto won 1, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 11. After watching the fight I thought that the only way for Mosley to even earn a draw, he had to be granted all the close rounds.

I wound up also giving the 2nd to Cotto despite Shane's late charge. Miguel controlled the rd completely for the first 2 minutes, and then went toe to toe w/ Shane, where Shane may have had a slight advantage. Still, I think Cotto did enough early in the round, plus the late body shots that looked brutal to be enough to earn it.

 

Then please don't bother scoring fights. That was an easy rd to score.

 

I've been scoring them for almost 25 years. No reason to stop now.

 

The 11th was a very easy rd to score. If you can't give that rd to Cotto then the rest of your scorecard is probably biased too.

In the 11th Cotto boxed beautifully off the back foot, made Mosley come to him but made him ineffective throughout (displaying greater ring generalship), landed the cleaner harder punches. I would think that's enough to earn the point. What am I missing? :huh

As I said, I've been scoring fights for a LONGGGG time. Mosley made Cotto retreat, hurting him in the 9th and 10th. He continued to walk him down in the 11th, staying in control of the fight's tempo and being the aggressor. Cotto landed a 'woo' punch at the end of the round, but it was not enough to take away from Mosley's aggression and dictating of the pace. Bottom line -- Mosley had the 'relentless' Cotto retreating, and made the round happen. Cotto did better than he had the two rounds before, but did not do enough while running to get the 10-9. Hope that helps.

 

Mosley was not effective, and I DID cover the 'ring generalship' in my prior post. It's not a hard rd to score; just because one guy is moving laterally and the other is coming forward doesn't mean anything. Shane did little to win that rd, while Cotto landed more than just the "woo" punch.
