if he doesnt think he can wins...perhaps he should just get the **** out of boxing...because he has ZERO heart......at least the guys that were terrified of the 80s tyson actually got in the ring and took their beatings like men.....soft ass fighters now, no heart...

He calls himself Vityaz for **** sake (i think it's the name of his team actually as Lebedev has it too). Calling himself a Warrior while acting like a ***** isn't acceptable. Using the "live to fight another day" philosophy would get him shot in the face by his own people during WWII. Perhaps i'll consider not being quite so harsh on him once he changes his moniker to something more appororiate such as Cyka, until then **** that *****.

Well said. Plus unlike the TS, I don't think it makes good financial sense either. He was looking at 2 mill - gotta be much more than for prior fights. Plus as long as he survives and isn't brain damaged and doesn't pull a Kevin Johnson, there will be other fights and he could still seek out Haye, VK, or other decent paying fights. Look at Peter for fuksakes, he got utterly dominated by VK, looked **** vs chambers, and he's now getting another shot off of one decent win (naggy a). Better to get some exposure, some great money, and move on after the loss. It's actually like a win/win situation for Povetkin: no one expects him to win, so he makes great money and gets some exposure by taking the fight (again assuming he doesn't pull a KJ or comes out damaged goods). Plus there's always the small chance wlad's chin is cracked or he's mysteriously sick (ala the brewster 1 fight). Can't see how being viewed as a coward is gonna help his marketability/career better than taking a loss in a title fight for 2 mill......

Seems that when it comes crunch time everyone is all blow and no go. They all say they WANT to fight the Klitschkos, but wont sign the paper. This is getting ridiculous.

Hear me out. Povetkin is a total tomato can. That is why wlad wanted to fight him. Povetkin should retire because he is a coward. He scared of a man that has one of the weakest chins in boxing history. Haye would kick Povetkin's ass in one round. Povetkin is a worthless piece of ****.

I think in the long run, it will benefit Povetkin, as he won't (unless he faces Haye or Chagaev) lose his undefeated record, and can build himself up a bit more.

But in the short term, it does make him look pretty *lacking* as a professional fighter. At least, to those who take the time to ready the boxing news. Not everyone who shows up at these big mega fights reads this behind the scenes drama that we all live on. LOL

Povetkin, KNOWING he's not ready, certainly did the best thing for his long term career, yes, but he sure looks terrible, right now, to those of us who keep up on this stuff. Many fans won't have a clue about why the fight is not happening. And Povetkin won't be tarnished, at all, in their eyes.

And as has been said before, thanks Chef for the information.

Yup. Hard to figure Atlas here too. If he truly "always believed" AP needed more time to "be ready" for the betterment of his "career" why not make a stand earlier on rather than have the kid pull out after everything's announced etc.

    1. Then why enter the eliminator tournament to begin with 3 years ago?
    2. Why did he sign once to fight in December 2008 only to get injured running? Was that a fake injury to get out of the fight you're insinuating?
    3. Why didn't he face competition over the past two and a half years that could better prepare for him for his title shot?
    4. Why did he even bother going through pre-fight negotiations if he intended to not fight?
    5. Why did he ask Wlad he wanted Olympic drug testing?
    6. Why did his side go through with a purse bid?
    7. Why didn't they cancel prior to the presser announcing the fight officially?
    8. Why didn't he call the IBF and said "take away my mandatory challenger status" at some point in the last two and a half years"?
    9. If he's not ready to fight now, when will he ever be? After Wlad retires?
    10. Since he's not fighting Wlad, who's he going to fight next?

By law, he's undefeated. By fact, he has one loss by way of forfeit.
