I like how you left out the most important part in your highlighting CHB: "He was so reliant on the money he went in with a plan of trying to knock out Green with one quick shot, and should he take a punch, give up." This explains a lot, dont you think?
I almost 100% agree with Ippy. I 98% think his head was crook pre-fight and the knock he took to the top of his head compressed his neck and rattled his nut enough that he was genuinely unable to regain his balance. The reservation I have is that as much as he had an extraordinarily huge heart as a younger, fitter man, circumstances had changed significantly for Paul Briggs by 2010. He was once a brilliant, amazingly tough and inspirational muay thai fighter and boxer who earned a shitload of respect the hard way and I don't think he dived. But he's a human being, so I can't say I'd stake my soul on that. I wouldn't say explains. Not unless we know who the source was. Unless either Briggs said that himself or it came from someone inside his camp then it's just speculation from the journo or a source with no cred. It suggests a lot though.
id say it explains a lot. watch the fight, briggs threw the first punch, a big wild leaping hook, it didnt KO green, after the very first punch he got hit in the head with he went down. DIVE :deal
Spot on Marcus , The thing that gets me about this whole affair ain't the DIVE Briggs took or the fact Danny Green must have known how shot his mate Briggs was but it's how many dickheads here are trying to justify both fighters action out of blind loyalty , The pair of them Briggs/Green screwed the live audience out of their gate money , they screwed the thousands watching on PPV around their country and they brought boxing negative press world wide with their shameful scamming . I just hope Phil Austin don't get relived of his Free trips around the world as a result of it all .
Green shouldnt have offered the fight to start with.... Briggs shouldnt have taken the fight with the intentions to dive if he didnt win with the first punch.
great post. I might copy and paste it on another forum if that is okay. Ill put it in quotes so it wont look like i said it...
looking at the slo mo at 2.10, why didn't green right hook him at 2.25 The whole thing smells of shite. elephant shite.
Oh how I laughed when i went to the pub and watched SBW v fat kiwi then mundine v 55th ranked Argentinian taxi driver. Surely Professional Boxing in Australia can't get ant worse than this I laughed. I was wrong.
come on ffs. He was seriously out of shape for a pro fight for starters. And he was 3 YEARS out the ring (no agenda). Wisen up ffs.
