ESPN2 Friday Night Fights: Beibut Shumenov vs. Viacheslav Uzelkov RBR

Beibut Shumenov vs. Vyacheslav Uzelkov, Light Heavyweights (12 rounds for the WBA title)

Round 1

Shumenov immediately starts backing Uzelkov up with his jab and right hand. Crisp punching from Shumenov as Uzelkov circles and feints, ducking, rolling. They keep distance for a while. Shumenov steps in with a hard 1-2 up high. Then a jab to the body followed by a right cross to the chin. Uzelkov catches him coming in with a loud hook and knocks him down! Shumenov gets up and they slug away. Shumenov comes back with a series of hooks to the body. They tie up and Shumenov shoulders Uzelkov into the ropes. Shumenov keeps pouring on the punches as Uzelkov tries to land one more big hook.

Shumenov won the round despite the knockdown.

 

He's supposed to be taking a bow, but yeah it looks more like some kind of yoga or something.

 

Then if you didn't see it, where did "knockdown by a jab. lol" come from? :huh

 

Round 2

Shumenov punching very hard with the right hand, throwing it as a lead and setting it up with a body jab. Uzelkov is still banking on a money punch. Shumenov punches the belly and forearms of Uzelkov as the Ukrainian covers up. Shumenov jabs, and Uzelkov nearly batters him down with a punch to the top of the head as they begin to tie up. The ref calls for a break and Shumenov throws a right hand, and gets warned.
