This post is incredibly short sighted. Im a MASSIVE MMA fan. But the UFC's not taking over anything. All it takes is a handful of stars to emerge in boxing and the sweet science is back. Every now and then boxing goes through a dry spell. Thats life.

 

Obviously boxing will not die if these match ups arent made, but i think they hugely important for boxings future. Mayweather Pacquiao is the only fight out there that will get non boxing fans interested, we need this to happen so that it will hopefully introduce a new generation of people to boxing and get casual fans more interested. Wlad Haye is not on that scale, but if it doesnt happen, its the final nail in this generations heavyweight division and proof that David Haye is full of **** (if that has not been proved already).

 

Boxing will not die if these bouts don't happen. Sure these bouts help boxing, and these are the bouts the majority of fans want to see...but will that stop people watching? No. In fact, as soon as the "PPV" stars are gone from boxing...there maybe a chance for more boxing to be shown on terrestrial tv. If this happens, there is a possibility of more fans beginning to pay attention to some of the prospects in the sport.

UFC will run out of "stars" soon enough and will stop growing. The only reason Lesnar is there is to attract wrestling fans, and they pretty much gave him the Heavyweight belt for that reason alone. The UFC has even turned to Toney to try steal some boxing fans. Once the older "stars" have gone, they will begin to struggle.

 

Boxing wont die but it will be embarrassing if these fights dont happen..

I dont think boxing will die if these few fights dont happen. As fans, we want to see them, but it wont kill boxing.

 

No. Those fights will be good for boxing, but boxing doesn't hinge on them.

 

boxing isnt dying. it might shrink or whatever, but it will always have fans. if punks like yourself stop watching, good riddance.

 

Outside of die hard fans no one knows who the **** Haye is and could careless about him or Wlad for that matter.
