Sources close to the situation have advised BoxScene that a push is being made to give undefeated Vanes Martirosyan (28-0, 17KOs) a shot at Miguel Cotto (35-2, 28KOs) and his WBA title. This would be Martirosyan's first world title shot and Miguel Cotto's first title defense at 154 pounds.

Martirosyan is another guy Cotto could control the tempo of the fight against, outsmart, out-time, and wear down. There's a sizeable bridge in class. I wouldn't care too much about this fight, but it's not something I'd be outraged over or anything.

Arum has been trying to take the polish he put on Cotto and smear a coat of it onto the other fighters in his stable with religious intent for the last several years. These all Top Rank farceups are crude business. Why the **** would Cotto want to fight Vanes at this point?? Arum, you ****.

low KO ratio for this guy and the kind of fodder Miguel can eat up....easy money why not have Cotto fight a guy below his class, he has taken nothing but tough fights for a while now, a gimme is pardonable at this point! uh....was Yuri a gimme?

I dont see it it if Cotto is only planing on fighting a few more times. Who knows how much more he would make if its kept in house, but i think hed make more fighting Berto, Mayweather, Bradley or even Angulo.

By the way, Martirosyan is a decent fighter, but he doesn't appear to be anything special. I think Cotto dispatches him without too much trouble.
