Do you think it's time for boxing to no longer have catchweights ?

Nah, if you look at the number of ring deaths, not too many of them came in those rounds.

The change is said to be because of Ray Mancini-Duk Koo Kim because Kim died after being stopped in the 14th.

Others believe it was about money. Boxing was a network TV sport back then, and 12 rounds + intros + interviews + commercials are easier to fight in a one hour slot than 15 rounds.

BOXING should not even have the in between weights

    Heavy
    cruiser
    light heavy
    middle
    welter
    lightweight
    feather
    fly

anythign smaller than that we can just call it midgets with big gloves

Titles aren't as valuable as they were before. Pretty Floyd is right in saying they just collect dust. Its the opponents you face that matter.

Not having catchweights mean we may never see 2 great fighters from different but adjacent weight divisions ever face each other. It's not like weight limits and divisions were written in the Bible. They were man made, just like catchweights. Catchweights are meant to even out the field and not drain or fatten up the other.

i think it kind of defeats the purpose of the extra between weight classes we have now...i mean this is what thats for...to meet at an in between weight division you know.....not just creat a wight to fight at on your own.

how about just 'super fights' or 'super cards'?

they all don't weigh the same on fight night anyway.

I would only agree if no title at stake.

I wish the sanctioning bodies would refuse to sanction catch weight title fights. Other than title fights I don't mind them.

agreed, as long as both parties agree, there should be no issue.

Catchweights are okey to me as long as they are not title fights (Marquez-Mayweather, Dela Hoya-Pacquiao)
