    Unbiased assessment:

Cotto and Shane slugged it out for the first 4 rounds, probably split those rounds depending on the card.

In rounds 5 and 6, Cotto started to get to Shane and it looked as though Shane might be finished shortly.

Round 7, Shane gets on his toes and starts to box.

Round 9, Cotto starts to move backwards, he is bothered by something

Rounds 10-12: Cotto moves backwards, but fights well doing so and counters Shane. Shane gets in some good body work and is the aggresor.

----- Good fight with some unexpected results. Cotto had the better jab, while Shane IMO did the better body work. Cotto counterpunched well, while Shane backed him up in the later rounds.

Overall, some great fighting and some weird turn of events. I scored it a draw but have no problem with Cotto winning.

well the first three rounds were close, with both fighters scoring shots, and I could see them as swing rounds for all intents and purposes. I thought Cotto won the first round but two of my friends thought Mosley did. The middle rounds belonged to Cotto, with effective hard shots and accurate placement. However, many of these were close.

He was hitting Mosley cleanly with the jab, but Mosley was also landing flush right hands and standing right in front of him. After the seventh round Mosley changed strategy, started to move, and to be honest I had him sweeping the last four rounds. Cotto was back pedaling after he was hurt in round 9 or 10, and in round 11 he only landed two good punches as the bell rang, in a round I thought Mosley dominated. Round 12 was more of the same: Mosley coming forward and Cotto retreating against the ropes, neither fighter really throwing. I thought Mosely swept the last four rounds easily, and was chagrined at anyone giving Cotto rounds 11 and 12, in which he did nothing much but get buzzed and survive.

It was a great fight but if anyone was going to go down it was going to be Cotto in round 10. The ref gave him time to recover to clean up a spill in the corner when he was clearly buzzed. I think a draw was fair, to be honest, because I had Mosley winning at least two of the early close rounds and sweeping the last ones, but Cotto was very consistent in the middle of the fight. It is the kind of fight that probably should have been an SD, because I don't think either fighter won it convincingly depending on what you are looking at.

it was back ond forth for the earlier rounds and in fact earlier on mosely seemed to have a problem with cotto's jab and counter punching which was surprising. at about the 9th (i was drunk and haven't rewatched it) cotto started to back off and mosely was the agressor but it i was just enjoying it and was not trying to score the fight. it could have gone either way and i wouldn't have complained on the result either way, neither fighter dominated throughout and neither fighter was embarresed.

good fight cotto can go on to bigger and better fights and mosley has got a couple of entertaining big money fights left in him.

Just to add and using other person's words...

Round 1: Mosley opens with a few good body shots. If Mosley is faster, it's only by a small margin. Cotto, however, as expected, appears to clearly be the stronger man and he moves Mosley with his shots. Cotto 10-9.

Round 2: Cotto appears more relaxed and is actually outboxing Mosley. Mosley lands some good chopping right hands late in the round and both men trade heavy blows at close range. Mosley 10-9.

Round 3: Action is heating up as both fighters thrown and land heavy shots to the head and the body. Both fighter's chins will be tested tonight. Hard to imagine it going the distance at this pace. Mosley 10-9.

Round 4: Good round for Cotto. Mosley has his moments but Cotto's heavy hands are thudding away at Mosley. Shane might score a knockdown at any time with his sharp punching but Cotto is beginning to put some punishment on Mosley. Cotto 10-9.

Round 5: Wow! Both men land punches that would knock out lesser fighters. Mosley initiates some clinches but Cotto keeps hammering away. Cotto 10-9.

Round 6: Good round for Cotto -- his left jab is very under-rated. Mosley tries to dance and keep Cotto at a safe distance. Neither man has ever been knocked out but they're both being tested as never before. Cotto 10-9.

Round 7: Mosley dances for the entire round and has some success landing clean punches on Cotto. Not sure how long he can keep it up, but Mosley's change in strategy is paying some dividends. Round ends with some wrestling. Mosley 10-9.

Round 8: Mosley has changed the pace of the fight with his dancing. The crowd doesn't like it but the big question is whether or not it's impressing the judges. Very tough fight to score. Mosley 10-9.

Round 9: Pace has changed again as Cotto spends the latter portion of the round dancing away from Mosley. He's still using both hands and doesn't appear hurt but something has changed. Mosley 10-9.

Round 10: Mosley is confident and aggressive as Cotto appears to be trying to catch his second wind. Cotto may also have a cut in his mouth. Cotto lands a few good shots late in the round. Mosley 10-9 or Cotto 10-9.

Round 11: Mosley remains the aggressor throughout the round but Cotto land the cleaner, harder punches even as he's moving back. Mosley appears the fresher but is unable to take control of the tiring Cotto. Cotto 10-9 or Mosley 10-9.

Round 12: Mosley slips and falls early in the round. An accidental clash of heads opens a small cut above Cotto's right eye. Cotto retreats the entire round as if he has the fight already won. Mosley keeps pressing the action but doesn't land anything meaningful. Mosley 10-9.

If you score the the 10th and 11th to Mosley, you have 115-113 Mosley. If you score the two rounds to Cotto, you have 115-113 Cotto. If you score one of the two to each fighter, you have a draw 114-114.

Just about all the clean shots were landed by Cotto snapping mosleys head back all night with the jab, straight right hand, and counter shots !

Mosley fought well and kept it competitive but Cotto was doing a little bit more !

Mosley is a beast as is cotto they really traded some bombs but cottos were more convincing ...

Mosley's shots landed on the side of cottos head near his gloves and didn't rock his head back except for 1 really nice uppercut that shane landed

    body work was about even

    cotto won comfortably

worst case biased scoring would have given mosley a draw but any competent judge should have had cotto winning

i had it 115-113 for cotto with the 2nd round possible a draw making it 116-113.

    Judges were spot on.

Close but clear decision for Cotto.

Great assesment. I personally gave the 10th to Mosely, and the 11th to Cotto and had it a draw.

I had it a DRAW. Good fight. Very good test for Cotto. Mosley, whilst he isn't the fighter he used to be, he tested Cotto well and came to fight. I wonder what's next for the young superstar.

Cotto was never hurt. He decided to box just as he used to do ealier in his career after his conner told him "(la pelea) es de nuestros ya". He even mentioned on his post fight interview, but all the Mosley groupies will tell you that he was hurt echoing the HBO commentators. I have seen the fight several times. It was competitive but cotto clear won 116-112.
