Calzaghe is eligible for Fight of The Year, but no way does he get Fighter of The Year when he fought twice, and one of them was Peter Manfredo. No matter how great the Kessler fight was, the Fighter of The Year should have given a lot that year. Cotto has an argument, and so does Mayweather, but I have Cotto struggling and possibly losing the Mosley fight, albeit against a HOF-lock. As for Mayweather, with the Fight to Save Boxing a disappointment to so many people, and all that crap about how he was going to KO Oscar, then I don't think he's done it either. I think Pavlik is the answer. Personally, as a huge fan, I'm all about David Haye this year, but in global boxing terms I recognise that his achievements remain great but are not as significant as Pavlik's to the worlwide audience. Pavlik smashed his way up and deposed the undisputed no. 1, in dramatic fashion, taking out the supposed heir apparent on the way. He did all of it in classy and entertaining fashion. Should Hatton somehow beat PBF though, then I might be stuck between the two.
Judah was coming off losses and Mosley was rebounding from the Winky losses and Vargas wins. Pavlik fought THE champ @160, also Miranda and JT were at their PRIME.
Pavlik's my pick, too. If Mayweather stops Hatton, that would really impress me as well. As of right now, I've got it: Pavlik Cotto Calzaghe (I give a ton of credit for Kessler, but the Manfredo incident, a necessary evil as it was, hurts him for this award) Mayweather-Hatton is such a wild card, I can't predict where the winner would rank until the fight actually happens.
Well I think it could go to one of three fighters. If Hatton beats Mayweather he is fighter of the year easily. If Mayweather wins it could go to either Pavlik or Mayweather. If the fight is a draw it should go to Pavlik.
im going 2 go with a fighter that i dont have attachments 2(sounds gay i know)...kelly pavlik and thats because he was in fights i enjoyed and some of the brighter lights won but didnt win well or excitingly...i can easily see this 1 going 2 a couple...the ring will prolly pick pavlik ...they seem 2 like the breakthrough guy(oh i forgot hoya owns the ring now)...scratch that
Pavlik. He has beaten (and devastated) the champ at 160lb and a top level, dangerous Miranda this year. That exceeds a 34 year old DLH and a guy who you yourself on this thread are saying has no chance against Floyd in Hatton. Lol, when you devalue a fighter and say he has no chance to beat Mayweather, you probably have no business claiming Mayweather should be fighter of the year. :good
