Apparently it's supposed to be on the undercard of the Mosley vs Mora PPV. Anybody have any reliable info on on this?
No. But I've heard rumblings about this for a few days. Could end up more interesting than I think people would typically predict.
There's an article on The Scene where Baldo states he wants the fight and was already in training for September fight in Argentina.
Alvarez will 100% be on the Mosley-Mora undercard. Last I heard, Baldomir is the most likely opponent, with the deal almost done. Only hang up is weight. Alvarez wants a catch weight around 150, while Baldomir took his last fight as a middleweight. Anyway, Baldomir looked blown up his last fight, like how Duran looked at the end of his career. If it happens, Baldo's gonna get his butt kicked.
Yea I agree. But I'm gonna say that Baldo will give Saul a hard time for at least a few rounds. And it's good too that Carlos isn't easy to ko so Saul will probably have to work really hard to get a ko. Overall I think if Baldomir shows up in shape, it will be a great learning experience for Alvarez.
On one hand Baldomir is a good opponent for a developing fighter like Alvarez. He should give Alvarez some rounds and show him a trick or two while he's at it. On the other hand, Alvarez should beat Baldomir up pretty bad. Baldomir is nearing 40, fighting 2 divisions above his best weight, and is now a part time fighter. I wanted to see Alvarez face someone a little more threatning but Baldomir is ok as an opponent for Alvarez at this stage. For a ppv fight it depends on where its at on the card. If this opens the show than its a solid fight. But if Alvarez-Baldomir is the chief support fight than thats horrible. The main event of Mosley-Mora is already weak so unless Golden Boy wants to put on an embarrassment of a card I hope this is the opening fight of the card.
I thought so as well. I knew he fought and won in November but thought he announced his retirement. But I'm GBP coughed up enough money, and the ppv facetime will warrant Carlos to come back for a beat down one more time.
Good solid fight, Baldomir is a very experienced former lineal champ who's past his best, but can still give Canelo a competitive 12 rounds.
Great fight. Its just right but lets not forget Baldomir has one hell of a chin, big work rate and decent pop (his record may not suggest this). Actually it could be an upset in the making. Canelo is still green and if Baldomir can do his thing and walk him down he could catch him with something big. However I think Canelo is special and he will beat Baldomir in a fairly entertaining match. Victor Ortiz is also on this card. Not sure on his opponent. If its a decent one then i will buy the fight otherwise i will just wait for a stream. The main event doesnt hold up. The Canelo fight is more interesting for me and a good opponent for Ortiz would sell it to me.
Golden Boy just officially announced Alvarez-Baldomir and Ortiz-Harris. The press release is on The Scene.
